@%#& O2 sensor!!!

I have a new oxygen sensor in hand, but I spent an unsuccessful 2 hours trying to get the old one off. After I got the O2 socket on, I couldn't for the life of me get the actual wrench on. There is an A/C line in the way, along with a ground wire. I removed the ground, but the AC was still there to block the wrench from getting on. I have a swivel socket extension, but still no luck. How the heck did you all get yours off?

Isn't it like a 3/4 wrench? I got mine off by aiming the end of the wrench towards the firewall/passengers side, there was a nice little open area where I could get it off, after you initially start it, you can unscrew it with your hand.

If you have an O2 sensor socket, it's just a matter of stacking on enough 3/8" or 1/2" extensions to get the ratchet above the fender line so you can get some torque on it. Starting the car & warming everything up helped me a lot, also...

Swivel sockets, or "wobblies" are probably gonna hurt you as far as getting the torque to the sensor socket...

yea, hah, you should have seen the concoction of parts i had. i had a total of about two feet of attachments. my wrench was probably about where the hood would be (if shut) and stuff wreaching all the way down to the O2 sensor. i dont remember if i just used a big wrench or a cheater bar. maybe both? that thing was seized in there. you may want to use some anti-seize when putting the new one in.

All you need is a 2 foot extension to get you over the fender, I had the same problem, except it took 2 DAYS to do it. I finally found the extension though, and after that, it went easy as pie with the 1/2 drive breaker bar, again 2 foot long. did that, put the new one in, and viol'a, O2 sensor replacement complete. note: stock exhaust manifold, so it can be done.

That's pretty much what I did...used a series of extensions and a ratchet with a bendable head to get in there, and it was a BITCH to get off.

WD-40 is your friend.

Oh yeah, put some anti-seize on the new one! Bosch sensors will already have them, so next time you don't have to go through this.

It wasn't about getting it loose, it was about getting the ratchet around it. I have the o2 socket. I got the socket on. There was just too much **** in the way, even with the swively thing. I'm about to take it to an exhaust shop. it's exhausting.
