$860 for Brakes...!?!

I went to mazda to get some pads and rotors for the up coming DGRR.

Part # FB05-33-251A Plate, Hub D x 2: $323.32

Part # FB05-26-251A Disc Plate x 2: $259.48

Part # FB06-49-280A Pad Set RR: $97.66

Part # FB71-33-28ZD Pad Set, FR: $125.25

To me, this is ridiculous. there has got to be a better place to get pads and rotors from. I know Im in for a few hundred dollars easy, but nearly $900! Please tell me that the Mazda dealership gets the nickname stealership for a reason and that there is in fact a better place to get these parts for less.

Autozone and PepBoys didnt carry the parts either.

Wow, thats pretty crazy.
Its this simple: www.tirerack.com
I am assuming that is new pads and rotors for all 4 wheels? If so, it won't be cheap, but nowhere near what is is at the dealership.
Edit: For a Turbo II it is $170 for new Hawk HPS pads (my personaly favorite for street use) all around and new Brembo OEM replacement rotors for the front. They don't offer the rears of those type at tirerack. You should be able to take the rears off and get the turned at a parts store or somewhere for cheap. They don't usually take enough abuse to warrant replacing them very often.

SpooledupRacing here on the forum (see "parts for sale-2nd gen") sells rotors for $85 a pair (front or rear) w/ free shipping.
NAPA sells front rotors for $24 apiece, Checker has 'em for $35- not sure of the brand in either case but if you aren't racing the car it probably doesn't matter much.

Hawk pads are great, got mine from Mazdatrix.

So umm... this si going to sound stupid, but...

Solid rear rotors will literally look like a solid piece of metal, and the vented will look like two pieces of metal with vanes in between them correct? Im going to need rear pads so I need to know if I need vented or solid rotors.

You're right about the rotors.
The calipers are different though so you need to replace the rotor with the same type.

rgr that.

tirerack sells brembo stock replacements for $34 plus shipping. So its probably a wash going with Spooledup or Tirerack.

Im going to put my order in and hope beyond hope that they will show up this before this weekend. i can forego the header for deals gap, but i wont feel very comfortable with the brakes I have.

Was this at Southern States Mazda?

And dude, you can get pads and rotors at Advance Auto Parts. I have Bendix rear pads and Wearever rotors all around on my GTU, and Hawk HP pads in the front. The rotors should be like $80 maybe total and you can get front pads for I dunno, $60 maybe?

Advanced was the only place I didnt go.

yeah it was southern states. The guy behind hte counter printed it off, hands it to me, and says "you REALLY want those brakes???" I laughed, said that is ridiculous (to which he agreed) and let.

Just ordered rotors, front and rear (rear look like an old vinyl record) and got hawk hp street pads for $300 shipped. It was about what I expected to pay when I started looking.

Powerslot rotors kick ***. And they're pretty damn cheap on this site too.
