I'm currently working with a local shop on getting a rebuilt engine for my '90 TII. They say they can get me a factory rebuilt engine from mazda for 2300. Install will cost me around another 500 they said. Is this a good deal?

I'd hate to get burned.

ok how about F$^% rebuilding it when its going to cost that much
there are so many sites out there you could get you whole engine for less than 2500$ with a 2 or even 3 year warranty

and this will defently be easier

10 hours? Anyone that is good enough to do rebuilds, can surely take out and reinstall a motor in a few hours... I can do it in about 3 max.

there is a guy in jax,fl that said he would rebuild and port a motor for me and do a full turbo II swap on my n/a for $1,500 all i had to do was bring him the parts.
That's a good deal... I sure wouldn't do it for that. That is a LOT of work!

I am looking on spending a little more than that on my next rebuild but that includes a bunch of extra stuff. I say for a stock rebuild your getting stroked.

Can you afford $3k? If you can, get it done there, you won't be disappointed. If you can't, Look into other options. Kevin (hypntyz7) (sp?) is one option, he's cheap and good.

I was looking ata bout $3k CDN to do my rebuild, but that included porting, upgraded seals, bearings, etc... and that was on a turbo motor. BUT that was just the keg, I had to do all the rest of the work. I ended up going the jspec route, which isn't an option for you if you have an n/a, and not a route I think I'd go again.

Mariah motorsports does good work, and they've been around forever. If you can afford their prices, go with them! (especially because they're local to you)

you gotta remember tII cost a lot more than a n/a that price sounds about right for a n/a but also motor isnt the only thing that needs to be replaced tho.. inj, sensors, other basic things that are ciritical

I paid 3000 CANADIAN.
That's a full rebuild, not new housings, but everything was finished/lapped, got the rotors machined for 3mm apex seals, AND got a full intake/exhaust streetport!
That's about 2000 US.
3000 US is too high.
I just got it done the second time for 1500. (Blew the damn thing- my own fault....)

I got a rebuild core from Atkins Rotary http://www.atkinsrotary.com for my S5TII for $1795. Then I think I gave $200 for a street port, but got free shipping. That was a year ago, and the car is running flawlessly now. I think the S5TII is 1995, now.

Anyone have good suggestion in San Jose California? I need to have my engine rebuild or even upgrade to a T11 motor, anyone can help me acheive that here in the bay area for cheap and good. I also wanted it to last. Please help.

No such thing as cheap and good, unless you do it yourself.

I reccomend Ivan's Autopalace in Sunnyvale.
