Hmm, my biggest noob moment was the entirety of owning my first car. Worked since I was 14 to buy a car when I got my license. I'd been obsessed with cars since I was 3, but when I saw a 2-door car in my price range I jumped on it. A 96 Dodge Avenger. Wished I would've gone RWD, but compensated having fun, by rally driving the **** out of that thing almost daily. My high school, was 3 minutes from a mtn. pass and would go there to hang out during lunch every day. I was definitely known as the crazy one, seeing how close I could get my wheels to the edge of the cliffs, sideways. I got to the point when I was 16 to where I could get the car sideways about 40 ft before the turn. Now for the noob moment (moments), so on the road that went to my school. There was a cross street the REALLY bubbled. to where the street would go down this hill. Now when you ran this stop sign and floored it to this jump you'd be at about 75mph. My car was already lowered, so it was only 5 inches off the ground. But this jump was perfect! At speeds from 55-75 every time you'd land it would be perfectly balanced (all 4 wheels landing at the same time). But I would still bottom out every time. I went through three oil pans in that car. Ripped off my bumpers rally driving and jumping the car almost daily. One night when sneaking out I was rolling the car out of my drive way, and didn't realise my e-brake was almost completely shot. Didn't even slow down when I ran into my mom's boyfriends trailer and ripped my door off! That car was alot of fun, and I don't regret anything I did in that car, cause it helps me today. Ten plus years later and still go to the same mountains. Needless to say I know the corners quite well. And still have never been busted (well I was busted many times but never got any tickets, haha) in those mountains.

Hmm...
When I was either 17 or 18, driving my first car [87' Nissan Pulsar NX XE... 75HP when it was new! LOL] I heard a strange rubbing sound when I was driving home from the high school church group with a couple friends and my sister.. Eventually [2/3rds of the way home] I figured it out and pulled over... the 3 lug nuts on the front driver's side wheel were loose [as in, turn by hand loose!] Oh and the 4th stud was stripped so it never got a nut in the time I had the car ^_^" Also the car didn't have a tire iron, so we tried to flag people down, and tried to borrow one from a tire shop nearby [no was their answer] eventually someone called the cops on us [still don't really understand why..] and got to learn that the police cars may have a million things in the trunk... But no tire irons :P [they just call up AAA]

Newb moment with the FC... [still 18 but just a month or so before turning 19] My secondary injectors weren't working [didn't know why it has no power past 4k at the time..] and I'd dropped a friend off and was headed back to work. It was early January ~6mo after I got the car: we have a curved two lane onramp to the freeway from my city, and there was a Ford Aerostar with a handicap tag on the rear view mirror that was going obscenely slow. So as soon as I could I pulled into the actual freeway and started trying to speed up [feathering the gas kinda gave me some secondary injection.. but not much or reliable] and I got into their blind spot and thought "NO, YOU better check your blind spot!" when they started coming over [also the horn didn't work on the FC] well naturally they didn't and came over so I swerved into the middle lane and started to fishtail [of course the *%#ed Aerostar kept on truckin!]... I apparently hit the brakes [couldn't really feel my feet from the adrenaline..] and 360'ed [nice "Oh crud....." thought when I was facing back at traffic] Came to a stop facing back down the freeway and thought "pleasedon'thitme!pleasedon'thitme!pleasedon'thitm e!"*BAM* Ford Taurus rams the rear bumper [FC construction vs Taurus... the front end of the Taurus was totaled and my rear bumper was bowed slightly and scratched LOL]
Also when I swerved/fishtailed I apparently scraped a Ford Explorer...

That was about 5 years ago. I like to think I'm much better now [Nothing's gotten out of control since]

My first FC was a noob experience. Traded a 91 Celica and 1200 for it. Thought I got the deal of a lifetime. I drove the car a total of 5 times before it overheated and toasted the engine. I held onto the car for a long time.

Now that I look back, I was a stupid kid. That Toyota was the most reliable and gas friendly vehicle I've ever owned.

Another noob moment. After I finally got my last FC on the road, I let my girlfriend put it in her name to use as collateral for a loan. Now she's my ex, and her husband drives it.

Dumbest idea ever. I drove it a few months after getting the engine rebuilt. I got to put the break in miles, and about 2k extra.

My first car was a 98 5speed ford explorer. When i had my permit my dad would let me drive it around to learn how to drive stick. Well one day i parked behind him and he wanted to drive his car to sears; so he told me to move the tacoma (his truck) out the garage and put the explorer in it. I moved his car in the drive way then parked my car in the garage and turned it off, but as i walked away i said to my self "oh the explorer is pulled up too far." So I get back in it, start the car, left the door open (because i thought i was going to be in and out), backed up where i wanted to, but i hit the clutch instead of the break and at that moment i was thinking 20 "oh *****" a second and i flew out the garage and hit my door on a house support beam and bent it in the opposite dirrection.

I haven't had a car since :[

I still debate poking holes in the oilpan when I see it parked somewhere. Or pulling the main fuse. Putting pinholes in the fuel lines.

I'm probably the biggest nooob in this site, and still am.

1. Bought my 90 s5 n/a FC during my smoke break during work.

2. Bought it when I didn't know how to drive stick, so my friend took it home for me

3. Took me about a month to be comfertable with driving stick, stalled about 69 times.

4. Put a led license plate light, and it burnt and made a crack on my taillight

5. Was driving without any tranny fluid for the longest time

6. Bought BBS RGR for $1500 from a fc owner and found out the lug was 5x120, after I painted them.

7. Spun out couple times making a left turn by gassin it little to aggressive.

when will my fml moment stop with my poor fc haha

Honestly, the fact that I loved that car so much is whats kept me from doing anything to it.

That and they'd know it was me.

I have two FC's now though. So it isn't so bad.

Dude you gotta at least slash some tires or poke holes in fuel hoses. You won't hurt the car that bad but you'll inconvenience the **** outta your ex and her bf.

My biggest noob move was when I owned my second FC. A kid I knew wanted to buy it, so being the generous ******* I am, I let him take it to a shop for an inspection. FOR SOME REASON, it came back to me with the coolant seals puking. I dunno why and I can't point fingers, but it always drove fine before. Of course the kid never bought it, so I ended up having to rebuild the engine. In an apartment parking lot, mind you.

On the other hand I did learn alot by rebuilding that ****. Can't be too mad.

overtorqued the rear spindle nuts on my 323 hatch after replacing my brake shoes; inner races all but welded themselves to the spindles within 30 miles, had to cut them off, bearings shredded. had to replace the shoes again, plus bearings, plus drums, and installing the lug studs was a real bitch.

also spun out in my '7, didn't know how to countersteer right and I ended up doing a 270* right into the turn lane to my left. good thing it was empty.

I had to do that. Sucks. I did have a single garage stall to build the motor in, but the car sat out on ramps and no hood for two weeks. Stupid thing is the apartment managers only got complaints once I fired it up (first start was like 2am and the timing was way the hell off because of mismatched front pulley/hub, so it made a lot of noise burning most the gas in the turbo...).

How I came about my RX-7 TII.

I got a 1992 Eagle Talon AWD for like $1900 bux, drove it out to my friends house to give him a ride, he says, "do a burn out!" Like a dumbass, I'm like OK, so I proceed to rev it and dump the clutch and the thing launches and I say, huh.. ****. try again, rev, rev, dump the clutch and wammo! GGGRRggg! crunching noises and clank clank..

OH crap? What did I do.. I limp it back to his house, then limp in back home and called the guy who sold me the car and said it just broke and that he sold me a POS(I know, stupid *** kid), so he decided he would trade me a 1987 RX7 TII for the DSM he sold me.

I happily traded and didn't even know it had a rotary engine, then the O-rings went in the RX like 3-4 months later. And it sat in my parents barn for like 2-3 years, until I got hit in my 240 which I used the insurance money to rebuild and repair the RX which I have upgraded and runs great to this day...

If I wouldn't have broke that DSM, I wouldn't have ever owned a TII rx7 or have been a member on this forum. Thank you, weak *** DSM transaxle! ( or dumbshit me who tried to burn out in a AWD car)

So ashamed....

I bought a mitsubishi TEO4H from ebay after getting an insurance check (I got rear-ended at a stoplight).

I knew it wouldn't bolt right on, and I knew I needed to do something about fuel management, so I bought the fuel pump, injectors, SAFC, wideband, etc. What I did NOT know that it was way too damn small.

I still have it, and have no idea what to do with the damn thing.

That was several years back, and I still have the same Rx7.... well, the body's the same

ive got a couple to add.

my first one would have been when i got the first rx7. i was driving a 87 acura legend that i picked up quite cheap when a friends brother when to prison. this car was pretty reliable. always started, got good gas mileage, yada yada yada. well the tranny in it started to act funny and i assumed it was going to go out completely. i didnt even think about flushing. this woulda been a smart idea cause i was still in school and had access to the machine. well i got on CL and asked every single person with a 7 for sale to trade. then i found a guy. mobbed down there and traded the guy. the rx only lasted ~6 months.

then my next noob move woulda been when i turboed it.i was getting my swap almost done. i was waiting for a bolt to come in the mail so i could install the UIM and start the car. i had everything hooked up but this. I also had forgot to stuff rags or block off the LIM. long story short i got the swap done and not more than 30 minutes later the motor blew. tore it open and found a nut embedded in the fron rotor. so i got the privilege to learn how to rebuild a rotary engine.

I bought a Neon, thing is i still own it, it's the car where i have learned everything, and i'm still doing things to it, latest is megasquirt, so i learn how to use it before i get it for my FC.

So i guess you will find a lot of noob stuff early in this thread, i think i came to a total of 5 or so different sub boxes. before the performance bug got me...

i traded it for a shell of a automatic rx7.... i always knew it was a stupid trade becasue i was about to turbo the civivc but the car was so awesome and since i live near downtown los angeles... i havent ever seen one in real life...but know it running in pretty good shape

I bought my fc 2 years ago from a old guy in virginia. I felt so proud of myself, so i did a tune up by myself. I popped my engine after 5k miles after some unknown reason... The reason was because of that crap-*** stant thermostat that kept overheating it. Fml
