ahh

that is the borg yours front FTP style cut outs and it looks like a m-sports lower end of the kit. This car has way too much bodywork to find out exactly what it was originated from.

The front bumper is custom for sure possible two parts put together

I am planning on using an FD front bumper. I'm getting the cheaper version of the veilside one. I have to modify the hell out of it anyway so I can just cut and fiberglass the space for the headlights too. heres a pic of the front I wanna use. the grey FD is someone elses from this site and the red one is from veilsides site I think.

the last one is a photoshop I did on a car I found with tamon fenders. I'm not great with photoshop but it gave me an idea of what it will look like.

what? their just fog lights? well if it works...

do they just put head light bulbs in the fog light surrounds and that works? do they project far enough to see at night?

Yes those are fog lights. It's most likely illegal and unsafe, but it's ugly for sure

dont be a tool and do it.. lol

good luck on the FD bumper, Ive yet to see one nicely adapted to a car i liked.. They look good from head on, but when you see them from teh side, it just doesnt look right.

i photoshopped this, it might look ok on a real car, hard to judge by the pic since its a horrible angle

Yup definately not remotely enough to see at night.

one of my regrets is that i didnt cut and blend the fc and fd bumpers together.

I just moulded the fd fogs in.

Take your time on the design end....and it will be worth it.

so even if I put my headlight bulbs in the fog lights, it still wouldn't be bright enough eh? I wonder how those cars in my first post see at night then.lol.

ya, I don't really like the FD signal/fogs on FC bumpers. they just don't look right. I might take them out of my FD bumper depending on how they look after I mold the bumper. I am getting 225 front fenders and modifying the line slightly up over the wheel well and then down into the bumper. then sharpening the line on the bumper to go up into the fenders. I might also widen the bumper depending on where it lines up. might do a true wide body and widen the bumper and fronts of the fender instead of having the fenders come into the stock FC bumper width.

lol. thanks John from NY. It might be awhile until I start the body fabrication project since I now have this rebuild project. I'm using my tax refund for the rebuild now. I am living on unemployment since I got laid off in late feb and can't find work around here. my friend might be hooking me up with a machinist position at his factory though so then I might have some extra cash.

I will definitely be taking lots of pics of my fab work the whole way through. I have to buy another digital cam cable though since I seem to have lost mine during moving back in november. I'm not chronicling the rebuild as there are plenty of those out there already. I might do a step by step of the swap from N/A to t2 using the same series N/A harness. not a lot of people seem to know they can use the same harness for swaps as long as its the same series swap.

what would look better than modding a veilside knock off.. mate the top upper FD area, to the bottom portion of a FC GP kit.. the FD front will look good if you retain the FD's shape, but mate it with the rest of teh FC bottom, should be easy since you would just cut out the face of the GP kit yet leaving enough as it can still be mounted, and fiberglass in the FD portion.

If you try all FD stuff, its not gonna match any sideskirts or anything and it will probably sit too high up on a FC

I thought that this FD bumper would be close to the FC height but it may come up a little short. If its not too bad, I may just put a splitter on the bottom to make it look around an inch lower. if it's really bad then I think I will just cut the bumper horizontally in the middle of the open areas and extend that section a little bit. I have to wait until I actually have it here for scaling to figure out what I am going to do. I really like the bottom duct area of the bumper, so I don't really want to lose that part and instead go with an FC bottom. More then likely, I will be getting the raceon 225 side skirts as well and modding those so I don't think I'll have trouble mating the look of the FD bumper. I think I might be going with the bomex rear bumper as well but have been juggling that with the popular rear diffuser setup on a stock FC bumper. It's all just in my head right now.

well, I can just build the headlight surround and cut out my bumper and fiberglass it in. I was looking in google images and this is a pretty popular conversion for 180sx' I guess. one guy said he is using $50 hella driving lights and they are brighter then his original lights. I guess I will buy a set of cheap driving lights and put hi/low beam bulbs in them and just tape them to the top edge of my bumper to check visibility. if they aren't usable, I guess I'll just use them for actual fog lights.lol

i'm wondering how hard it would be to adapt an FD bumper to a Sw20 Mr2(and a nice rotary engine in the mix too
