The Vert is just a bitch all around. Sometimes the trunk latches shut, other times it doesn't, it tries to idle at 1500 but then falls to 1200. Sometimes the headlight clothes all the way, other times one sticks up up half an inch, and it drives me ******* bananas.

Mine was hauled out of some guy's front yard after it had sat for several two or three years. I paid $250 for it.
Change of oil and coolant and a charged battery and it fired right up and has been almost a perfect daily driver for me...
A little too perfect...
I take mass transit to work, so I never get a full charge on the battery just driving it to the bus terminal... Even when it is cranking so slowly and I think I'll need to jump it, it fires right up.
Idles dead on perfectly at 750 RPM. 1000 when cold.
Every other RX-7 I've seen and/or owned, I've had to have a good charge on the battery to crank with sufficient speed to run it... And every RX-7 I've come upon has had a slightly lumpy idle, especially when cold...
These are things I'd expect out of a car that's had no maintenance and gone from sitting to fairly abusive driving very suddenly.

Odd, but possibly normal - unlocking the passenger door (with the key) doesn't unlock the drivers door, so when I let someone in the passenger side first (or dump my briefcase or gym bag in), I have to keep my key handy to unlock the driver's door.
I can see why locking the passenger lock on the inside shouldn't lock both doors (chance to lock the driver out of the vehicle with the keys in it, for example), but not too sure why it would be set up to not open both doors with the key on the passenger side; my other cars do. Just have to use the key again to lock the doors when leaving. I'm guessing the thought is someone could unlock the passenger door, use the inside lock to re-lock, and leave the driver's side unlocked.

Mine reminds me of a female. She completely has a mind of her own. Like after the swap she barely ever idled, and other small stuff. Washed her, gave her a nice wax, polished her shoes, and bam, idles right at 700, and runs perfectly clean now. She requires the attention, but is well worth it. Just like any trophy girl, haha.
Oh yeah, and when it's super cold (like 10 degrees or lower) she makes this whining sound right behind my gauge cluster when I get to around 27 mph and higher, only goes away once she's completely warmed up. Anybody elses do this???

sometimes my key or headlight buzzer sounds like the car has a dying battery
and the stupid dome light only works when I wiggle the bulb

For the guys with doors that need to be slammed, the door latch mechanisms do seem to wear out over time. If I recall, there's some kind of coating that wears off or something along those lines; there are some old threads on this subject. Last I checked you could still buy new ones from Mazda but they're about $90 per side, or you could find a less worn pair from another FC which is what I did. FWIW, I think the S5 ones seem a little more durable than the S4s.
First time i bought the car when mate was driving it home - every now and then when he took a turn the headlights would pop up and go down. At first i didn't notice it until he asked me "did you see that?" eventually i started noticing it and we came to the conclusion that the car was haunted.
mine decided it really didn't like this oen girl and would blow the 80amp fuse under the hood whenever i shut the car off after going to see her. blew about three of them, it didnt work out with her and it never had the problem again.. very jealous car..
My fc's heater works 50 percent of the time. My speakers go out sometimes after I've rewired them 3 times already checking for bad wires, and the radio is neW ! My passenger key hole works sometimes and the hatch key hole doesn't want to budge a bit. The sunroof needs a tiny nudge to open. N least but not last most weirdest one is I have no alarm in the car and it will sometimes start honking and lights start flashing like if it does ! (Honk, honk, honk, blink, blink,) I get up in the middle of the night staring @ it cuz idk wtf its telling me to do . I think she just wants attention but to turn it off I have to pop the hood and unplug the battery lol
