A thread for my Infini

It's been 2 months since the break-in and I've finally got some space to work on it so I'll keep a thread about the recovery and build-up of my car. It'll be slow as I'm still a university student for another year but I'll try to keep it as interesting as possible.

Here's a teaser pic for now

There's info here:

http://www.mazdamark.com/about_the_s5_fc.htm

Similar again to the US spec 1989 and 1990 GTUs the Infini IV came with the 4.3 rear end final gear (but also used a new Torsen Limited Slip Differential), and the options kept minimal with air conditioning, Infini embroidered floor mats, and a AM/FM radio the few options available (however it did come standard with a rear window wiper and power windows). Power was bumped to 215 HP (JIS), largely by changing the exhaust to a free flowing design and revised ECU. The Infini IV, also came with the Bronze tinted glass found in the US spec 10th Anniversary edition, and was available in one of two custom black/green metallic paint colors. Of the 600 made, the first 300 cars built on limited production runs between June - Dec 1990 were painted Mazda paint code GU (Shade Green) while the last 300 cars built starting Jan 1991 through February 1991 were paint code VQ. Of these last 300, 20 of them where sent to MazdaSpeed for the MazdaSpeed Package which only did minor cosmetic changes like MazdaSpeed embroidered seats, MazdaSpeed steering wheel and shift ****.
0-60 performance was reported at 6.5 seconds and the quarter mile time dropped to 14.9 seconds, with Infini specific brake pads helping make an impressively matching braking force of 60-0 in 141 ft (8 feet less than the standard RX-7 Turbo) despite the ABS being deleted off of the car at time of production.
The Infini IV was not imported to North America other than a single press version that was returned back to Japan after the press tour.

um, i believe that it would be an S5. in japan the S4 was an 85-87, and the S5 was 88-90 or whatever. im fairly sure thats why.

It WAS a S4 Infini in decent condition until someone broke into it. I got it locally through a private sale a year ago so I got no details on the importing process. We were busy working on another swap today but finally moved the car in and called it a day. Two more shots for now...

I've also got the sideskirts possibly for sale if anyone is interested.

as chun said, the car was broken into and they took a few parts here and there.the only exterior parts that were took were the ftp's and the hood.

the reason the front end is apart is because the bumper rebar was bent in a mishap at a autocross event last december.

the plan right now is take the panels out and considering of a re-spray.as of tonight, the passenger door (left side) is now off to fix the door handle where the low-life pried it off to get into the car.still don't know if we'll replace the whole thing.more pics on the project should be up sometime when we get more work done.

Nice car, sorry to hear about the theft.

That last pic posted looks like S5 moliding on the rear bumper and S4 molding on the fender. Are you sure this is an Infini model?

I trust Canadians. Don't ask me why, but I do. SO don't question him on his Infini. Why would he lie??

Thanks for clearing things up Mig. Nitronatefc, to be honest, there are a few things making me doubt the fact that it's an Infini but there's more evidence for than against, haha. Besides, like phoenix7 said, Canadians don't lie

Door is off, brakes are rebuilt, repainted, and re-bled.

Didn't the infini come with a strut tower bar as well? I'm not seeing one in there.

Is it me, or do any threads on these forums about the infini turn into arguments about if it really is one? :p

well, those with regular old FCs are threatened by the infini. J/K I dunno. I can understand it if this guy had posted from wyoming, with a white FC, on 15" vert rims and a lopsided Infini symbol, and a Type-R badge. Everyone knows you can Import the Infinis if you're in Canadia without even thinking twice about it. Chun I hope you're not French.
