your right and wrong, in a 200 to 300rwhp I think the balance of a 275 Front and rear tire is perfect, what you lose in rear grip can be picked back up with aero or just a little lift, however past the 300rwhp point, our short wheelbase huge rear camber gain suspension and McPherson front suspension gets downright sketchy. moving to 315's and 275's lets you put huge amounts off power down. the car changes from a good( for the price) all around car, to a car that is as fast as anything out there in terms of exit speed, imho even better then a comparable 3rd gen. the car also slaloms like nothing else out there, as long as your on the gas...the sacrifice however is in braking (at least on stock components), and turn in... Push is my only issue in the balance of the car, and after some work it is even tolerable when you consider the fact that I can PLANT my foot in the gas pedal almost at the apex of the corner. a 1 way limited slip is absolute...

your flat mount intercooler setup, do you have anymore pictures of the mounting and pipe run? Very keen to replicate a similar setup, after weighing up a lot of advantages over a typical vmount.

no, not really any better pics. I welded a couple plates to the frame and bolted the cooler to them. the only thing I added that wasnt in the pics was a front vertical lexan plate in front of the intercooler. the IC tubing attaches via v band clamps to the end of the cooler.

In a coilover setup. I will pick a spot on the shock tower that allows the hose to get at the brake rotor. Drill a hole and weld in an new piece of exhaust pipe so that you have pass through. Then run the hose inside the engine bay to where ever your ducts are.

Heres the best pick I found on one I did a long time ago.

cutting the inner fender lke that, you'd be losing some regidity in the front end?

you might as well front half the car to do that. but thats just me.

i run 255's on 17x10 +10 and 285 on 18x10 +18(ish)
at full lock theres ~1" of clearance between the tire and inner fender, so that didnt seem like a great place to run the hose.

The motor is back at mr kan's getting refreshed. Im a lot bisy in the shop, learning and using some new cnc equipment. should be finishing the body(rollcage and paint) in the next 2 to 3 months. then need to wire and plumb the new system in... wish I had more time but unfortunately paying coustomers come first... OH and as far as doing a tube front half? usually I try to get a good wreck or 2 out of a car befor I go and cut it off... but i think when I do ill steel an rx8 front and rear suspension...

I have been following this thread since I first posted. I've had 4 FC's and a couple other cars in between since then and this STILL is my favourite RX-7! Keep up the updates!

REALLY want a set of FR500 wheels as well

Pedal assembly... So you have an accelerator, 2 brakes, and a clutch pedal?
