repaint... ditch emblems?

Looking to repaint my 7 (red 88 SE). The plastic emblems on the back are faded to black plastic. should I ditch em, restore/repaint em, or replace em? I know it's more of a preference question... just looking for opinions.

and if anyone has "restored" them, how did you do it?

Thanks!

I went to a salvage yard and took some off a RX-7 there. The conditions may vary.

remove them, welded over the holes, and bodywork.

I dont have them on either of my FCs, if your repainting the car just take then off now.

I like the profile of your coupe. you have any other pics? Rear fenders have any kit on them or are they orig? Looks wider than normal, but could just be the camera angle.

Mines' an N/A, but I want to sport it up just a bit, maybe a spoiler. browsing rim/tire pics too.

I'm leaning toward removing the plastic emblems. Haven't seen any RX7's in junkyards around here. Mine are in good shape other than the chrome plating worn off. I lke the cleaner look. Thanks.

I removed the one's off the GXL I use to have when it was painted. The previous owner of my TII did the same when it was painted.

stock bodywork, its just the rims and tires that make it look wider, the tires are 275s

I have no emblems, car came that way. I miss them tho. I bought a set of TurboII emblems and plan on putting them on once my car gets a fresh coat.

I think I am going to leave the cheap plastic ones off the back, but slap on an Efini sticker instead.

I like the emblems on the FC. I think some debadged cars look good, say an RX-8 with a unique body kit--that would look really nice.

There's just something about owning real rotary history, and having pride in it. I honestly doubt anyone in my area knows what my car is let alone why it is so unique. It's my duty to educate them

i also prefer the emblems.

if you like it badgeless, more power to ya.

if you're only unhappy with the flat black ones there are plenty of oem variants in chrome, gold, etc. for sale. check ebay.

They came black plastic from the factory. There was no chrome or brightness too them. They are flat black originally on the car.

In fact chrome would be gaudy on a FC.

Painted body color or black is the only way they should be.

If I could get some chrome remakes I would definetly consider putting them on my car. I'm in the same boat, getting my car painted soon and can't decide. I have a brand new set of the Mazda emblem and RX7 emblems if anyone is interested.

i like the emblems, its just i hate how they were put on the car. i took them off but eventually i might consider putting them back on with side moulding adhesive so i dont have to drill into the body.

I took them off my car when I painted it. But it just didn't look right. So I put them back on and that is where they will stay.

It just looked too weird to me with out them.

Ah, got it. Mine must have some funky sun fade or something. They were in pretty crappy shape colorwise when I got it, so I assumed they originally had some type of faux chrome or silver color on the face of the eblem. Mine might not be too bad then if I decide to keep em. If I do, I'll just paint em black so at least they're a consistent color again

Thanks Icemark
