Red Rex is (probably) dead
Hey everybody, how goes it.
I have a sad announcement.
I got t-boned last night coming home from work.
Well made car. The side held perfectly. It crushed it a bit - a bent dashboard, a stuck (no work) turn signal, the headlights were on, and the door sensor wasn't touching the door.
Walked away without a scratch on me. Had to crawl out the passenger side and have a good laugh about it. No cut, bruises, or abrasions. Happy. Another reason I am glad I had the RX-7.
Will have pictures in the afternoon, I hope.
Take it easy, and have a good one.

For not having any airbags, these cars have good crash ratings. Most people that crash/get t-boned/roll over usually walk away from the accident with either some scrapes or clean.
Sorry to hear about the 7, hopefully the insurance will give you enough to start a build!

Sorry bout your car, but you have the right attitude...it's just stuff and more importantly you are healthy.
And everyone is right about 2nd Gen and accidents. My vert got totaled by another driver and I was unharmed. I didn't accept the loss nearly as carefree as the OP.

Jeez, why do 7's get hit so often? I see one of these posts seems monthly and it freaks me out. I guess its partly the low and small profile of the car but still I don't get it.
P.S. Sorry for the loss, seems like there might be a small chance to get it reconditioned so I wish you good luck.

You can drop a 350 in and still have room to stand in the engine bay.
But why people are able to walk away from crashes still amazes me. Great designed car, the crush points work amazingly. Given the damage is great, but I'd rather have the car crinkle than me.
