still a workin progress.

Clean, simple, and neat.....I wished my engine bay looked like that LOL
holy hell....please tell me thats Photoshopped because it definitely looks like it hahaha

This started out as a stock 88 convertible, and over time has gone from emissions free N/A, to stock turbo, to this. In its last stage, it had an 87 TII drivetrain w/ 3in exhaust and a front mount, apex'i SAFC I, everything else stock. Now it's getting a megasquirt ecu w/ custom wiring harness, hybrid s5/to4b (.60 A/R) turbo, 720cc secondaries, walbro 255, aluminum radiator, and just generally cleaned up. I still gotta work on cleaning up the engine bay still, but I'm very meticulous, and will be cleaning, media blasting, and powdercoating where possible.
This is the engine bay after tearing off the turbo and manifolds. Ugh..

This is it today.

What e-fan are you going to use?
That's actually the windshield washer bottle. I found a rubber plug to cap off the
top so it won't evaporate. I had to move it for the front mount.
I'm going to use the same 16" Hayden fan that I've been using. I made a writeup in the archives about how to make a fan shroud for it. I'm probably going to re-do the fiberglass shroud to make it more aesthetically pleasing.

agh i posted all the links and forgot which picture is which and i'm lazy to edit.
so there is some of the air intake mocked up as i will be cutting a hole next to the radiator and placing the intake filter where the radiator reservoir was. before i relocated it.
enjoy.

that area under the hood is sealed off, seems like mazda might have put some thought into the placement of that intake, wondering if you will see any advantages? I just ran a K&N drop in instead of a open filter in the engine compartment
well if you look at the stock intake the air is pulled from the bumper and up to the engine compartment then makes a hard left to the filter box and up past the filter to the throttle body. That seams like alot of restriction to me. Putting the intake filter directly in front of the source of air and running it as straight as possible seams like the better alternative to having a cone inside the hot engine bay. But hey I'm just talking out of my *** right now
