So I finally got the funds to buy a new motor and transmission from "japan2la"
But I feel so nervous about buying it. What I mean is, do you ever get that feeling when your about to put down money to make a big purchase like this?

HELL YES!!. i just bought something that i was bery leary on buying. When i recieved it I ended up taking it 2 1/2 hours away and plugging it into a car with the correct setup to make sure it works lol. He's a good dude and if you have any problems he will hook you up

I bought a Turbo II swap that had compression on the spot, got it home and its internals where shot. It was actually from a member on this forum who was a real nice guy, but I do not think he realized the company he bought the engine from sent him ****.
I am not sure what you are nervous about, sounds to me just any larger purchase makes you nervous? Summer is right around the corner, you need that engine man!

i hear you when it comes to dropping a chunk of cash on something that is not a sure thing. but at the same time you gotta take risks in your life every now and then or **** gets stale.

I bought my engine from a shop blacklisted on this forum and it's the cleanest running engine I've ever had. My buddy bought one from the same guy a month later and after 1500 miles he had no compression on one of his rotors. Buying used engines can be hit or miss.

dont think about it just get it rebuilt. I bought one and it ran and had good compression. I went through all the work of the install and then the irons decided to rust through at the coolant seal wall. Just buy a dead motor and rebuild it to exactly what u want. U will be saving money in the end.
if you are soo damn nervous, get an engine builder to make you a short block. that way you know the ******* thing is good to go.

There is a term for your hesitation. It's called Buyers Remorse. Very common on any major purchase from a TII engine to a House. Just focus on the process that resulted in your decision to buy to remind you that you did your best due diligence.
As reference, I have a S4 and S5 TII Vert swaps. The Engines for both came from Brian/Japan2LA. They were both simply dropped in and I've had no problems. The S4 swap was done in 2006 and it's still going strong. My S5 swap was done in 2009 and still going strong. So you can call me another satisfied Japan2LA customer twice over.
That said, both engines were checked out as completely as you can on a bench. A TII tranny bell housing and started are great tools to that end. Still, it was hold your breath time on first start up. My thought was to do all the install work and if the engine turned out bad, THEN pull it and have it rebuilt. BUT that's only because if I had to I could do the R&R myself. To be fair, the initial install as done by a friend with TII skills I didn't have at the time. I know what I know and I know what I don't know.
Of you don't have the skills to R&R and engine, then absolutely have it rebuilt before installing. That way you avoid potential double R&R costs.

I would look for a local supplier for you, where you could have a compression check done in your face lol
I went that way with my 240sx and sr20 back in 02, had a compression test done on the block in front of me b4 i bought it. Of course tho that wasnt a rotary.
The thoughts of making your car more reliable should crush any thoughts of buyers remorse, well for me that is how i think of it imo.
