I run some 1994 GT wheels, and they look great. They are 17X7s and I've got 235s on all four. I rub a tiny bit when I hit bumps but only in the front.

I am going to be getting new wider fenders for front anyway so I'm not worried about it.

No, they're 17x8's. You'd not even be able to get a 235 on a 17x7 without it looking rediculous.

WTF are you talking about 225's were designed for a 7" rim, so 235 would be a tiny bit big. you can fit up to a 245 on a 7" rim before you get rediculos. Going the other direction 205's fit fine and 195's give that dorifto stretched look.

03 cobra 17x9
+26 offset
245/40/17 ecsta asx
275/40/17 proxes 4

no scrubbing of any suspension components, but the do hit factory fenders under load. and you can tell a difference in weight.

225/45/17's can fit on 7's, that doesn't mean they're designed to. For the correct diameter in a 235 you get a 235/40/17 which doesn't fit on a 7" wheel, so it'd look very pulled in.

The point is that you won't get nice straight sidewalls like that with a 235 and a 7" wheel, besides, there never were any 17x7 Mustang wheels from that era.

Holly **** those came out nice!!!!! I think I should pick up some Mustang rims more than ever now....it would be appropriate too since I have a 1997 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 in my FC.

Can you post picks of those rims on the car? Thanks

Hey Skatingsamurai,

Although you posted awhile ago, still thought you may be interested in knowing how those rims will turn out.

I've ordered the black Cobra R 10.5" rear, and 9" front rims you mentioned. They should be here next week. Not sure on the offset. Maybe someone can figure that out, but the backspace on the rear is 6.81", and 5.75" upfront. Just one of those things that I liked them so much, I was going to get them and make them fit no matter what. However, I am also in the process of completing my 8 piece Rmagic copy wide body kit w/ some rear fender modifications - didn't like how they looked. So in regard to making them fit, I am not foreseeing any major problems. To date, I have never seen these rims on an FC. So when I get them, I will post a few picks.
Later,
T Fitz.

offset is +24 front, +27 rear. they fit great with fender flares.

Thanks for the link and the info!
I had about the same measurements you did when checking the rear clearance. I figured about 3/8" was all I would get. I was planning on running the narrowest spacer I could get away so I could feel safe knowing it wouldn't rub the inside wall. I really couldn't figure out the front at all though other than knowing 5" is stock, and an extra 3/4" couldn't hurt that much.
I was going to run on 275/40/17's. But after seeing how well the 285's fill in the rear fender well area on your car, I'm going to use those now. The 255's look a little too meaty for my taste, so I was going to run the 235/40/17's. That would be 24.4" upfront w/ 25.98" in the rear. I think that would be a good stance for my car.
If anyone has pic's of 235/17's upfront, I would appreciate seeing them.
Thanks again.
T Fitz.

since it hasn't been THAT long since the last post, i'll add on. i just picked up a set of the 99 GT wheels (5 spoke ones) tires are 245/45/17 all around, car is on stock suspension

i'm still trying to figure out if the front will rub. i've read through all the posts and some say it doesn't rub, some say it rubs bad, and some says it only rubs under load and what not...

also, i wanna get the extended lug nuts. can i find these at any auto parts store such as kragen (just cuz it's close)? or will i have to order online. the uhh specs on the lug nuts have to be M12 x 1.50. correct? can someone explain what number represents what?

12 is the diameter in millimeters and 1.5 is the thread pitch, the higher the number, the coarser the thread.

eBay. M12 X 1.50 ET. That's really all you need to know.

the 245/45's will probably be too tall. ive never had stock suspension, but 245/40 barely fits on coilovers. also i think the 45 sidewall is wider than the 40, since the sidewall kinda bows out. pull them off and sell em, then mount 235/40 to be safe.
did you want long lug studs, or lug nuts? long studs would be a good idea...
you want late model F-Body studs. ARP studs are gold (pretty), and can be found on summit's website. i have those, and some open ended acorn nuts from ebay.

i was planning on running 225s in the front. should i go with 225/40 or 45? the rears are 245/45

i want to get the longer lug nuts, or the ones that extend into the wheel because it's easier than changing the studs. i don't know how to change the studs.

go 235/40
they dont make 225/40, and 235/40 fits, so why not.
but if you must, 225/45 is fine.

oh, and once you get studs, just take the hubs to a shop. they'll need to be pressed out/in (only takes a few minutes- you wont get charged much). the rears will need new wheel bearings (the bearing gets destroyed when you seperate the hub).
longer lug nuts dont do anything. they dont go further into the wheel- thats not how it works. just buy the 98-02 camaro studs from summit or wherever, some open ended lug nuts, and rear wheel bearings. the bearings can be found at overnightautoparts.com for a good price.
