Mustang Rims on the FC

That is a pic of Crusader_9x's car.
I'm going to be running 225/45/17 up front and 255/40/17 in the back.

I think the split in the middle of the spoke looks like ****. That's why I didn't buy those rims in the first place.
To each, his own!

but to answer the question of tire size # definations, it goes like this
Tire Width/ Tire Height/ Rim Size
Will any american car 5 spoke work with an FC? such as a Vette, Camaro, Fiero or Firebird?
So no one has tried a 17x9 in the rear? How wide a tire can you realisitcally put on a 17x8 rim? I have seen 275 and it looks good on a black rim but I am afraid on a silver rim it might not look good, ya know it may have more of the muffin effect.
As far as any rim from a domestic I am not sure that GMs bolt pattern will work with the FC.

The US and Japanese 5 lug patterns are basically interchangeable. The Europeans are the ones you have to watch out for. My buddies' BMW has a 5x120 bolt pattern...way too spread out.
Also, backspacing is the key.

It took me a while but here are some pics, and the tire sizes I settled with (for now).
Front: 225/45/17 Toyo Proxes
Rear: 255/45/17 Michelin Pilot
I got the tires used, but they all still have the rubber **** on them.
Total investment for wheels and tires......$130!

So these do not stick out past the fenders in the front? Thanks for following through with the pics. Most people say they are going to and once they got their set up running they abandon the thread. Anyway looks good. Just curious on the front fender looks like it does not come past the fender but kinda hard to tell.

$200 wheels do match the budget racemobile quite nicely~
245/40/17 BFGoodrich GFroce KD's (sticky!) + Tein Flex's - the front only rubs when i hit bumps- no rubbing during autocross. its all about setting the ride height..

so many pplz have mustang rims thats coolz to bad i want to get rid of mine now. I think 17's are a little big for FC3s. I want 16x8s work emotions please!!!! haha maybe in the summer or something but my gold GT rims will do for now.

Well the new Mustang rims have some offsets like +45 and higher I believe. So no they are not a good choice as you would have to use spacers. Anyway I just picked up a cheap set of stang rims. I am just wondering what lugnuts is everyone using? The wheels I have on now are using those tuner lug nuts, however looking at the mustang wheel it looks like they just would not look right, even if they do work just the same. I picked up some Cobra R rims and they look like they could use a traditonal style lug nut. I know such a trivial dumb question, just wondering what those of you with stang rims are using.
Thanks
Jeremy
Thanks

I just picked up a set of lugnuts from work. I didn't want to use the stock open nut design with these wheels because there isn't a centercap to cover them up. Just get some closed lugnuts that are longer than stock. Mine are made by Rally I think, at Advance Auto Parts.
I've got my eye on the stock 16x8 wheels on the new mustang. I couldn't find any hard evidence on the offset but I imagine it won't fit since they seem to differentiate this most recent model from the other mustangs so I'm guessing not. Anybody found a site with a chart? I spent an hour last night with no results
i got my rims for 100 locally and got my rims powder coated for another 100 to bad my tires cost me 835 shipped from tire rack haha BUT damn are they sticky. little scary when you can hug a turn in my car and not slide one bit. only problem is you have to get the right weight transfer because of my 235 255 set up, it will push if you turn suddenly at high speeds. next set of tires are going to be 245 all around either on 16's or my stang (17s)
I've got te 17X8 GT wheels, I run 245 35's all around and they fit nicely up front with a little fender pounding (by that I mean flattening the inner fender flange). I do however have stock (but probably saggy) springs.
This is a friend of slow87 and a former Rx-7 owner.
I used to own an 88 gxl and I bought a set of 96 polished cobra rims off a friend. They came with 245's all the way around however I found that they rubbed in the front all too often.
I found a set of 225/45 17's and threw those on the front and then got a pair of 275/40 17's for the rear.
I enjoyed the wide, muscular stance the rear tires gave however it drastically changed the handling of the car in a turn. Sort of, neutralized the typical oversteer of RWD in my opinion by pushing the fronts through the turn a bit too much. Enjoyed them while I had them tho.

Tire Width/ Tire Height/ Rim Size
Read this, From tire rack on how to calculate sidewall height from the width & aspect ratio.
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete....jsp?techid=46
Typically following the three digits identifying the tire's Section Width in millimeters is a two-digit number that identifies the tire's profile or aspect ratio.
P225/50R16 91S
The 50 indicates that this tire size's sidewall height (from rim to tread) is 50% of its section width. The measurement is the tire's section height, and also referred to as the tire's series, profile or aspect ratio. The higher the number, the taller the sidewall; the lower the number, the lower the sidewall. We know that this tire size's section width is 225mm and that its section height is 50% of 225mm. By converting the 225mm to inches (225 ¿ 25.4 = 8.86") and multiplying it by 50% (.50) we confirm that this tire size results in a tire section height of 4.43". If this tire were a P225/70R16 size, our calculation would confirm that the size would result in a section height of 6.20", approximately a 1.8-inch taller sidewall.

ET Style Conical Lug nuts should solve the thread engagement problem, much easier than replaceing all the studs.
I haven't confirmed if they'll fit yet,.. still trying to find a set locally.
is anyone using these?
sample pics of what i'm talkin about from an offroad site & from an ebay ad

Ignore the markings on deez nuts...
