just search ebay for "4 round led" that should bring up 4 inch round LED tail lights

im a little pissed grrr.. slapped everything together this moring.. and one of the tail lights was not working, maybe the wiring when i reheated the housings to heat the original goo..

Went to work, and looked at the tail light when i got there *its only less then 3 miles drive*, and that very tail light led popped off.. So its sitting in the housing.. Grrrr so I will have to redo this one. Either the adhesive i put on it loosend up from reheating the whole thing in the oven, or I slapped the lense on too soon to let it fully cure *the other tail light I left it overnight before throwing the lense on this morning.*

So make sure you give it all enough time to cure before throwing it back together and dont rush it!!

pissed because i got to help out at my moms shop after this, and then work tomarrow, dont know when i will be able to repair this.... I cant be throwing tail lights in the oven when my mom is home hahahha *she bitches about it*

EDIT: second thought, the led circuit board might have jus slipped out so maybe its ok and i just need to secure that better (the tail lights i bought, the board is removable).. still needa remove the lense tho

One question...Since these are not DOT legal, how will your insurance company react if you are rear ended?

well anything can happen, if your rear ended, its unavoidable.. they must be blind for not seeing the third brake light and still thier fault. My car is obiously modded as well as others on this forum..

went outside and looked at my tail lights on my break, haha the circuit board just fell out, will jus have to reset it and all is good =p

Then figure out what resistor to solder in to slow down the turn signal..

those truck based LED tail-lights are DOT legal. Read the plastic markings on them. Usually they have to be since truckers are under much more strict vehicle operating standards then normal vehicles. If he gets rear ended he gets insurance and gets another set and fixes it. its called DIY. Besides how will an insurance company instantly recognize the tail lights aren't DOT.

I noticed you have a different set of LEDs in for your tun signals. Is there a reason to this?
Either way I am going to have to do this for my fc!

I'm half and half on this one. I am impressed in your work though, I must admit. But the actual brake lights look like a face with the red reflector across the bottom of the tail light. Good job none the less!

Looks good! Don't like the extra aluminum reflector of the turn-signal lens because it kind of throws off the proportion. Other than that, the brake-lights look damn-good. I also prefer blacking out the lower-reflector on my (personal) modernized tails. Cleans it up a bit IMO. BTW, great fitment on the 4" LED's!

Thats all you will see as its pulling away from you!
How are they clear... Is the crosshatch pattern just an extra plastic cover inside?

WOW!!

Excellent job!

I wonder how hard would it be to make some LEDs for first gens. I would think all you need is a LED light bar...since our rear lights have 3 "lines" or grooves back there...that probably could be replaced with simple LED light bars...hmm...food for thought.

Your lights are perfect! Excellent job!

EDIT - you did it once..I bet the 3 or 5th or 10th time will get easier. If you do a small service...where they turn in their lenses for a set of yours...or you only work on the lenses they send you...you could charge $250 or $300 a set..and still be good to go! Think about it!

If you are injured, they may deny your claim. It would suck to suffer severe back problems requiring medication for the rest of your life without an insurance settlement.

Even if the OEM taillight is DOT certified, and the new replacement light assembly is, the combination of the two is not certified. By modifying the assembly you essentially decertify it.
