i just picked up an 86 fc with 225k on the original motor. i have doubts of it's health lol. it would only start on starting fluid (actually i was using carb cleaner) replaced the pump and think the injectors are clogged. anyhow im waiting on a compression tester before i put the intake back on and such.

we had bought a motor for my brothers fc, the seller stated it had 86k miles on it and showed us an odometer that matched those number. in less than 2 weeks a water jacket gave out. finally a local builder recommended water glass (sodium silicate) to get the car back on the road (it was his dd, which was why we bought a motor instead of building one) and in less than 5 months while cruising home from work it spit an apex seal out of the rear rotor. my brother didn't really beat on that motor sincing it's previouse water jacket failure but we did atf treatments to keep the carbon down. anyhow, to get to the point i know the motor had to of had high mileage and since picking this car up i have been concerned of the condition. i'll let you guys know after the compression test

finally got around to compression testing my 225k motor. it's turning 118psi max with sleeves shut on rotor 1 and 101psi max with the aux sleeves removed. on rotor 2, it's only turning 98 psi max with the sleeves shut and only 85psi max with the sleeves out. those are some low numbers compared to what im used too lol.

This thread makes me happy. I'm buying a '91 with 95,000kms (59,000 miles) and I'm scared for that 160,000km (100,000 mile) mark. But knowing some go for 200,000+ I'm happy

bought my NA fc at 181xxx miles and beat the crap out of it for 2 years racing it and driving it hard. oil control ring failed @ 198xxx if i didnt want to turbo it and babied the car no doubt in my mind that car would have gone past the 2ooK mark! my friends 87 sport NA is at 238k and has 90 psi on both rotors!

Figured I'd contribute.

'84 GSL - 204,000 km's - 75/95PSI.
'87 Turbo II - 90,000 km's - 95/95PSI.

1987 GXL at 169k on original engine. Runs perfect, the rest of the car is what needs the work. A well kept N/A 13b will run forever. Look at what else was selling in the late 80's and compare. How many cars from those years are/were more reliable?
