Everyone that hates the 13b (probably because they took an *** kicking from one) always say that the engins have no life in them. I have to respectfully disagree. Just for giggles I'll let you know my FC has 231,XXX original miles and it still runs like a champ. can anyone top that??

You're right, Its all in the hands of the owner..
Mine was rebuilt 3years before i bought it, waterseal failure. Rebuilt with the old housings, plates and rotors, oem seals. Dont know the mileage on them.
they set the clock to zero. When i bought it, it had done 9200km.
The engine runs strong for 10years now, even with 400+hp for the last couple of years.
It has survived massive detonation, overheating, running lean, turbo failure and 1.3bar boost spikes
There is nobody who can convince me that a rotary is weaker then a piston engine...

My T2 has 67,xxx miles from previous owner. Had 60psi across the board. Awaiting rebuild.
Girlfriends T2 has 255,xxx miles. Low compression. Turns out previous owner rebuilt it incorrectly and ruined lots. Had it rebuild. Blew after few minutes of idling. Rebuilt again. Not running 3 days later. Hopefully it was just the cat being clogged. 25 year old wiring harness doesn't look the best, so cross fingers that its not the issue. We will see. Rear end was whining so I purchased a low milage one for it.
My conclusion of thoughts... rx7 is a good car when new... could be a butt-load of hurt second hand.

This is a 2nd gen forum, so not exactly in line with this thread. But I can say I have personal experience of a '85 GSLSE with 400,000 miles on the engine and still going strong.
In line with this thread, I have an '87 TII with over 200,000 miles on the original engine before I lost a water seal. It seems life expectancy of a TII engine is about 100,000 miles less than an NA. So pretty much in line with what posted above.

My first FC hit ~274,000 miles on the original S4 n/a motor. I'm not 100% certain it was the original block but the car had been in the family since a little over 100K. I ended up swapping the motors (the original one still ran but the coolant seals were going), blew the 2nd motor, and said screw it and bought the FC I have now.
It's now at 167xxx and had the speedometer cable disconnected (for who knows how long before then) when I got it....original engine.
Thats how my truck is. 3rd owner, but the previous one didn't do any proper maintenance. Spark plugs looked ancient. Fuel pump going out because for some odd reason they took the fuel filter off and ran a straight piece of line to the carb. 82k original miles. Clean truck in and out. But poor ownership has taken its toll.
Here it is. :IMG-20120511-00798.jpg?t=1337100727
