Is the FC scene dead?

Hailing from faraway South East Asia and residing in Singapore I can tell you for sure that the scene is decining not just for RX7s, but JDM and even tuning cars in general.
As automation and electronic nannies become more and more common in new cars (I work with a big car company here in their Singapore office) there is a bigger and bigger challenge for tuners to come up with defeating software to try and unlock the secrets of any new car's ECU.
Guess the best route we should take is to continue driving and keeping our vintage sports cars - they won't ever be made like they used to anymore. I know, I get tonnes and tonnes of attention in my 80s pancake sportscar! Haha!

I wouldnt say it's dead but it has definently gone into survivor mode.
I'm pretty young and new to the scene at 19, but ive always followed the 7 and the Miata.
Seems like just the other day they had some buzz to them, now its as if nobody wants to touch them.
Fear of the rotary has taken over. Even the guys who chase down the FDs throw LSs in them.
Which in my PO defeats the point of buying one.

For example, if I accelerate gradually between red lights, smoothly to conserve momentum and reach the next light at either a reduced speed because it's red again, or just at that point it turns green, people are PISSED. In the same sense, in the Insight it takes me about 6 more seconds to come up to speed (always higher than the speed limit) because I'm driving for efficiency.
This causes tailgating, many people to angrily change lanes in some grand gesture, and do anything they can to get ahead of me. Only to have our speed equalise a few seconds later, or for me to pull up beside/behind them at the next red light where we sit and wait together.
So I've performed a few experiments and driven exactly the same way in the RX-7. And interestingly, no one seems to care. No tailgating, no obvious passing, no drivers behind raging on their steering wheels. Very curious.
