Is the FC scene dead?
 

I hadn't been here in a few years because of work/life but I remember when I first became a member at least the front page was full of new content. I live in St. Louis and there is only a handful of FC's in the area. I feel like I'm driving an endangered species now. Are FC's becoming rare now or is it just my area?

I consider them rare I see very few and people always ask about it. Could be just my area too.

The newest FC is 22 years old. In general, how many 22 year old cars are seen on the road? Around here, not too many.

I use to see them everywhere but one day they disappeared. I'm lucky to see maybe one or two a year. Not just FCs but FB and FDs seem to be gone as well. Depressing not more are out there.

I consider them rare, theres only 2 other FC's in my city, and one of them got sold to someone in Edmonton. I've been trying to find a turbo II for over a year, they're either blown, or built and over 8 grand.

of course "the scene" is dead. time does it to every car. the FC is no different. aside from a handful of legacies, their futures are pretty much all left to the diehards and teeny-bopper-saw-it-in-a-drift-magazine ... ahem ... let's just say ... newbies :) now.

there all crashed into walls from drifters and parted out from part out guys, i want to sell mine but its so rare considering all the custom body panels on mine, its hard to. i get alot of attention when i drive it and its rattle can black, can only imagine when i get it fully painted the looks it will bring. it is a re-amiya replica minus wing with some shine auto parts for little more taste

I live near Dallas and unless Im at a meet or Steve Kans shop i never see a FB, FC , FD.

FC geezer here and unless one is into rotaries there is no scene.
That being said though, there are the diehards that adore the spinup, so in very small circles...here we are.
One other thing is that the FC is a "youngsters" car and us "adults" look a little strange in such a radical departure from boring and mundane.
My well cared for GXL will hit the market soon simply because I'm getting too old, wife and grand kids don't understand, and where I live is an injustice to anything approaching a sports car.

Where are you from? Ahah I am in Edmonton. There are a bit of Fc's up here and a handful of FD's. Quite a few of FB's.

hahaha id say near dead if not already at least here in Los angeles. i've only seen 2 other FC's besides mine. a vert last year and an s4 on jackstands years ago. i've never seen a turbo II. i've seen plenty of FB 's hell i've seen a RHD FB in the city of commerce, but even they are getting fewer and fewer. i've only ever seen 2 fd's ever. on my search for a turbo fc i've found almost all of them are in northern california you know at least the california fc's. of course this is my speculation of the california scene. from what i gather just look at where the meets are and thats the area where most of the 7's are at. so in my case only northern california has the real meets and all the 7's

There used to be a monthly meet east of LA that would get a good collection of Old School, RePu's, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Gens, and 8's. They're around there no doubt.

we are keeping it alive here in Minnesota. Us "diehards" have nothing better to do in the winter then to be in the garage restoring cars. Tons of classics up here, not just including JDM. Classic Muscle is HUGE in my City.

If you have a clean low mile FC, sit on it for the next 8-10 years. Then enjoy the $$$ you receive for having one of the last of the Mohicans. (assuming the economy doesn't shit its brains through its ass).

Is there any registered 91 Tii's left? the number was scare 5 years ago, I can only imagine now.

which one?? im sure there are some down here but i speculate they mostly lurk behind the scenes with the occasionally appearance at meets:(

Shit I haven't seen another FC in 10yrs. I seen a fb a week ago and one with a Windsor engine I think it was a desil powered only saw it once. As far as car scene it all muscle here.

I have been seeing a crazy amount of FC in the South FL area. I see a beat up vert in some ones car port every day i got to work now.

This is rather unsettling to me I guess. Whenever I first got in to cars and bought my first rotary; I made so many friends just by driving around town. I spent all of last weekend driving around So. Illinois and St. Louis and couldn't find anyone to hangout with. I guess maybe the younger generation is just hanging out somewhere other than what I am used to.

I suppose that I should start collecting FC's while I can still find them.

I know of 10-15 within a half hr radius of me. its taken 4 years to find em. half of them dont run, or arent road legal.

We had a weekly meet around here, it died off. Looks like no rotorfest this year either.

problem is we are living in a microwave popcorn society. these cars can be temperamental. people don't care to take the time anymore. it's gotta be instantaneous or i don't want it attitude. there's no appreciation. how can you appreciate something when there's no time or effort put in? which is all fine and dandy with me. these things just separate the true enthusiasts. all good.
there's that and, as aaron pointed out, they are at least 22 years old. they will fade a bit.
and also, as mentioned, programs like cash for clunkers. which ties into my first point really.
regardless, i still have mine and i've got lots more to learn from it. i've put in more time and effort into this car than i have any other i think. and it makes me love it even more. way it should be really

in my area the fc scene is dead. Might see one or two other in a year and they're normally beat up. Only see FD at car shows.

Here in Chicagoland there seems to been a decent hold on the FC. They pop up at almost every car show and you still see them around from time to time. Don't get me wrong they are rather allusive but if you keep an eye open you'll find one. Most are junk but there are the over the top full on built like my 89 TII or well cared for bone stockers. The nice thing is I still see FBs and FDs around. Anyway you flip it we are a dying breed. The cars are old, not a lot of shops OR people know a damn thing about them to keep them on the road thus causing them to be left at the curb.

As far as the scene being dead, I know of quite a few FC's in my area, but all of them belong to enthusiasts. They aren't as popular as they once were, but I'd say that there is still a strong following of enthusiats keeping the scene alive.

I think it's a mix of stupid people and others getting older. Stupid people end up having theirs scrapped or crap up the forum due to not searching.

I used to DD my GTUs, had 3 in my yard and 2 in the driveway then I got married. I've got two in the garage now, I drive one occasionally and the other is a WIP.

I think another thing that has killed the forum is the noob section that was created. A ton of people sign up and never make it to the 10 or 20 post they need to get to access the whole forum. I'm sure it helps the moderators stay less busy, but it is keeping new people out.
