FC with miata engine

Im not spamming this sale ad, just showing you guys a car with a miata engine..

Ive heard of it existing before when a guy in Riverside told me he had a rx7 with a miata engine.. now I see one lol.. Maybe thats the car I don't know. but it is interesting. http://inlandempire.craigslist.org/cto/3051378504.html

Throw an S4 sport spoiler, and the undertray etc.. to get the aerodynamic drag down, and then put an HHO generator in it, and i bet you get some pretty nice MPG out of it.

in theory the miata engine almost bolts in to the FC, its just hard to imagine putting a heavier engine that makes 30 less hp in to a 2900lbs car!

Yeah, pretty lame. Miatas are slow as **** so....yeah.

Too bad mazda got lazy and never improved the power plant. Imagine a miata w/a transverse mazda version of a b18c, THAT would be a fun car.

The Miata's a fun car for sure... But if you're winding out a 13B even in a [comparably] heavy FC... It's just worlds faster.

4 rotor PP Miata o_O Would it even move before the tires burn off XD?

I wouldn't consider the Mazdaspeed miatas all that slow.

Besides, a miata is plenty fun out of the box.

Give me some track spikes and I'll take a MS miata, lol. If no one told you it was turbo you would never even know.

A miata is fun, as a first car, first rwd car or spec race car (racing other slow cars) but its hard to get excited about a (stock) miata after driving....well pretty much anything.

Now this would be good if it were the 323 GT-R version of that engine, but with the miata box. Then and only then might it shift quicker than an NA 13b, though I can see why this has been done. The poor guy has clearly read the anti rotary Internet warriors and opted for a 'safer' option.

Mechanic 1. "I got this FC shell that nobody wants."
Mechanic 2. "I have a 1.6 engine that nobody wants."
+ Beer.

Execution isn't bad, but it's just not a good idea in the first place.

Maybe it's the leftovers from a 13B Miata swap.

theres a guy who did a vw tdi swap into an fc. it's practically the opposite of a rotary. lots of low torque, no high rpm power, lots of mpg and does not rev smoothly!

We can only hope....but if that were the case, why take pictures of this one?

I met that guy (or another guy who did the same thing) cool dude, he lived out in BFE and I'm guessing he literally had NOTHING better to do. Oh well, I get 3 rotary engines for $50.

Now now... I think you're being a little hasty with your words here Miatas are great cars! It's the same with an NA Rx7. They're just well-balanced cars. They're not meant to be dyno queens, they're meant to have all the aspects of the car complemented by the other. The power, handling, and weight distribution of a miata make it what it is. Just like any other car though, you wouldn't want to upset that by tossing in an LS1 (take a look at monster miata). Likewise with the Rx7... this car is ruined now that it has a 323 engine in it

Doesn't everyone keep a fat friend around to make themselves look skinny!?

AGreed! Given equal tires on track, Miata's will stick with pretty much anything in the twisty sections. However, on the streets, you can't reasonably drive a miata like that and exploit it's awesome balance at the limit. It's like only driving a rotary below 5k. You're missing out on the best part! Thus, cars are ranked on how well they accelerate from a stoplight, which means the miata "sucks".

Anyways, back on topic: While interesting, this car = $1000 of poop

I found the miata that he took the motor out of. He did in fact swap motors. Here's a pic and a link to the craigslist add.

That is a tried and true strategy for many a club-going young lady

Having helped chase down a spec miata at Sebring raceway I can attest to their prowess in the corners, however we were quite surprised that after being handed our *** on every single corner that we were able to make all that time up going down the back straight. Miata's a great at auto-x and very short or very technical race tracks, but on the street, small, slow, and stereotyped isn't exactly the trifecta of.....well anything good, lol.

sort of, the miata is a 95, but the engine is a 1.6, which was 90-93, so

additionally since the 1995 miata is newer than ANY FC, it can't be smog legal in california. if you pick a 90-92 miata, it could be

You could make it legal if you did a 13b-rew swap, but getting all the turbo parts to fit would be a pain.

i just don't understand why they didn't give the miata a rotary option, it seemed like a perfect car for it.
