I vote we not only lock this thread but delete it. The above statement alone should be justification. Not to mention the 2893749357823945873 threads we've got on this topic.

Got questions about v8rx7 swaps?

Other engine conversion forum and V8rx7forum.com

the end.

Well, to pull this thead BACK on topic.

If you're talking about half assed swaps -- YES

If you're talking about swaps into Coups (a rolling "WHY!!" when you can just buy one) -- YES

If you're talking about:
- A paying attention to detail swaps into Verts,
- so you can have an RX7 that everywhere in the world BUT North America got to enjoy
- as the Billboard in London I saw back in 1990 said "Mazda RX7 Turbo Carrera"

Then I whole heartedly ENDORSE anyone and everyone that do this swap.

the way i look at it is, its up to you and what you want, its also your car and not anyone elses therefore you built it how you want we got 9 v8 fb's but dont get me wrong i like rotarys it just takes alot more money to get it as fast as i would with a v8 for cheap

t2 swap in a coupe with na drivetrain.........

Who else is running this setup, besides myself?

Buying a t2 is the lazy way to get a turbo coupe.

Just kidding. I hate this thread.......i keep posting in it and reading it too.

i realize i am a part of the problem.

Why do threads like this pop up on this site all the time. Why does anyone care what anyone else does with there car. Get a life and worry about it. Do what you want with it and quit trying to make yourselves feel superior becsaue you choose to keep the rotory in your car. I dont feel superior becsaue I did an LS1 swap. I did it becasue thats what I wanted in my car. The first Rx7 that I ever road in was and LT1 rx7 and that got me hooked. Anyone thats has ever been in my car wants one after they ride in it. 383whp and 363wtrq and 25+mpg make you feel all gigity inside no matter what the power plant

vvv s4 streetported T2 with full n/a drivetrain.

I've got a t2 trans, clutch, starter, mazdatrix driveshaft, and n/a lsd ready to go in when it's warm enough to work.

You learn a lot more about your car, and rotaries when you go from n/a to t2. Everyone should have to start n/a in my opinion to really get a feel for the car.

This thread has outlived it's usefulness...... From post 1.

My car would really chafe the OP.

88 T2 converted to NA ECU to diff(engine had low compression and flooded all the time). All for a very good price. PO puchased the car with low mileage and blown engine for a parts car, then decided the shell was too good to scrap out. Fortunately he had the parts kicking around the garage to convert it to NA.

I knew what I was getting into when I bought it though, because I had a complete T2 parts car that I was going to use to put it back to original.

However things don't always go as planned. Turns out the parts car I bought had been left outside with no hood and the UIM removed for years. The only usable parts from the engine were the end irons, 1 housing, turbo, manifold, UIM, LIM and TB. Wiring harness was beyond repair.

So I found a low mileage rebuilt S4 6 port that came with a modified T2 LIM. I also came across an S5 hybrid turbo and CS exhaust with stock DP.

At the present time the car is running the 6 port keg with an NA harness, T2 ECU, T2 Injectors, T2 MAP, T2 AFM, T2 trans, T2 DS and T2 diff.

All I need to return it to original is a set of S4 T2 rotors, a rebuild kit, and wiring harness.(already bought T2 center iron)

I am not in a big hurry because reliability and performance are my goals, and this combo does just that. It starts hot or cold day in day out, puts 250RWHP @ 8PSI, AFR's spot on, great low end torque and puts a huge grin on my face every time I drive it.

If for some reason I had to sell it in it's current form, I would advertise it as 6 port turbo conversion with full disclosure.

Future plans are to rebuild the 4 port engine, get a harness and return it to mostly stock.

Until that day comes I will just enjoy the car for what it is, a fun, fast, great handling, and comfortable sports car.

BTW I can see the the allure of an FC V8 swap. I considered buying one and test drove it, but in the end it was a half assed swap that needed more work than I was willing to put into it. Still had the NA diff with a mis-matched engine combo(EFI SBF). But it was a hoot to drive an FC that had more torque at 2k RPMS than most FC's have at any RPM.

Sorry for the long post. It happens when your stoned on vicodin and waiting to pass a kidney stone.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I think all the U.S. spec RX-7 convertible's almost require a turbo engine/drivetrain swap not to **** me off

Actually, body kits **** me off way more than engine swaps.

Think about it, would you rather buy: A clean stock-bodied car that had a half-*** engine/drivetrain swap performed, or a car with it's original under hood setup that has a gp sports body kit riveted on all crooked with huge fender gaps, mix-matched S4 and S5 exterior trim, and headlights stuck two inches from closed???

I'd take the damage done under the hood and under the car any day.

I hope every 16 year old reading this decides to do a TII conversion to their '86 base model before bolting on new bumpers and jdm mirrors and tyte rimz.

Not me. I would gladly spend 200.00 on materials to fix a jacked up kit, then countless hours diagnosing electrical problems on a sub 90 psi compressioned jspec engine.

Fan of the swap and fan of the body kit.

I was actually hoping this thread was dead.

^^^

I was going under the assumption that the quality of the work on said-swaps was in question, not the quality of the part being swapped in. I thought we were talking about incorrect wiring, or mixing TII and NA drivelines, not swapping a known POS motor into the car.

Also, I'm not saying I hate body kits. I just hate how many people's first attempt at body work is installing crazy-aggressive looking kits very half-assedly (real word?) on their underpowered FC.

uh, thanks for the random post.

this was NOT a v8 vs rotary thread.

it was an emo "how do you feel about turbo II swapped n/a FCs vs. genuine turbo II FCs" thread

No...

I was simply refering to the phrase "go kick rocks". That is chicago slang.

First time i heard that expression was on the "cool kids" album last year.

Re read my post.

Clean swap even though its a v8
