I still find it pretty awesome that a stock body FC car can go +200. Do other cars run stock bodies on the salt flats?

I thought they would HAVE to add some aero/stuff to keep the car from taking off... Wonder how far the thing slid on its roof? And what that would feel like. Wowzers.

I've thought about trying my car at Bonneville or the Maxton mile, I'm quite sure I can hit 200+, but I don't know that I want to deal with the effort of putting in all that (important!) safety equipment.

Apparently RX7s slide pretty good on their roofs. That's minimal damage.

Here's a couple photos of the Racing Beat FD fresh out of it's reskinning..."Back in Black"

Actually the FC is one the best ever aero packages in bone stock form. Not many door slammers can even claim 240-244 mph without spoilers, etc. That's about the outer limits. IIRC after the RB FD lifted at 220 they began allowing small mods in the stock classes.

The Dandy car was obviously trying to better the class record without any aero aids...nobly trying to set a record with exactly the same stock bodywork as the RB FC record setter.

i wouldn't be bad mouthing second gen RX7s for lifting at 240 mph as some kind of curse. The old record was 207 by a Corvette back in '86.

once you get air under the car, its a giant frisbee....

if you need examples, look at nascar. that's why they have those roof flaps

i'm not sure how far it went either, but i bet it seemed like forever if you're the driver!
