hmm nice interiors so far guys. GREAT JOB to all of you who have spent the time to finish the interior and actually make it look more complete. im not one of those guys though, mine is gutted. however, it was originally a burgundy interior'ed s4 (86 gxl). keeping the burgundy dash though and burgundy door panels, at least for a while. looking for a decent wood grain steering wheel that won't block out my gauge's too badly. i love the 86-87 wheel but mine is in really bad shape. the first gen wheel looked great, but what color was the leather on that wheel? i haven't found many aftermarket wheels that really do it for me, especially on a budget. any advice on a good wood grain style wheel would be great (or at least a nice burgundy wheel). thanks guys and keep up the good work!

those grip royal wood grain wheels look surprisingly similar to Grant signature series wood grain wheels imo. however grant doesn't come with rainbow flake (not that i would want it, but the offer for it is great) however that leather wrapped clay wheel looks amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any experience with grip royal wheels? any flex? (i know this seems like a bad question considering the brand, but my buddy had bought 2 different sparco wheels and both of them had major flex! finally sent them both back and bought a momo wheel. very pleased with it). i've only heard good things about grip royal and very classy looking wheels. the price isn't bad either. i think i may go with them. thanks for that link

I've always felt that if the interior of a car I'm driving isn't clean/nice, the car feels junky.

My first FC after covering up the worn out seats, finding some good floor mats, center console, idiot light surround, etc. It was a 2+2 which I honestly miss, it did come in handy when my younger brother/ skinny people needed a ride.

Then I finally got everything together to swap in a black interior. This interior wasn't from a 2+2 so the rear seats had to go for everything to match. I never did find a good set of seats, the drivers side one pictured below wasn't in good shape.

And my FC now, with a pretty well kept red interior. I've still got the black interior sitting in a shed but I'm waiting to swap it in until I find a better set of door panels. I've got everything else though, even a perfect pair of black cloth seats...

I made this so my tools and what not wouldn't be easily seen from someone walking past the car.

The best interior I ever had? Honestly, my first 97 Maxima SE. lol

Looks like a Honda seat, they have some of the nicest in the industry (the Recaros that came in the CRX are wonderful).

Great interiors! I love momo steering wheels, wish I could afford one.

On a different note, I know this isn't a shifter **** thread but I felt this was necessary...

I paid about $60 for mine IIRC, got it off eBay used. Then I bought a cheap universal hub and it's performed fine over the last 3 years over 2 FC's and +40,000 miles. Now every time I drive something with a stock steering wheel I feel like I'm driving a school bus or a car from the 50's.

That's a great deal! I always thought the RX-7's steering wheel was a tad large. I don't really understand why mazda went with such a massive gauge cluster and steering wheel. It ruins the leg room for those of us with longer legs too.

I love FB/early rotary wheels, but you're right; they are all just too big.

Some day I will have a momo, nardi, or personal wheel. I like their styling, fit & finish, and the fact that they have heritage.

My car has been down for about 2 years, hard times financially no job.
Back when i was 18, i did the half gutted interior on my 240sx, back than it was cool. Im 28 now and appreciate a full interior. Track only car sure gutted would be great, but not a street car.

I love my interior. These pics are a few years old. I just got engine parts scattered all over the interior now. =(

I scored the cargo cover from Hozzman a few years back. These things are rare, I love this thing. That is an RSX C-pillar bar, I think it looks pretty cool.

I need to replace 2 broken a-pillars, and the center dash vents with the missing grills. And driver's side auto belt is stuck. I did get the passanger side replaced before. Would like to just convert to S4 belts, since it would be a correct match to a japanese s5 that has only manual belts.

Edit: there are 2 pieces of wood strip running across the cargo cover, hence the screws. I could probably remove the screws and just gorilla glue the wood strips huh? They are there to support the cargo cover since it was folded in half sometime in its past.

Looks nice. I hope you get the car together soon! I'm sure everybody knows how you feel having a down RX-7, I know I do.

Those cargo covers are very rare! Yours looks fine with the screws in it. It adds character. Many black interior S5's I've seen have the special speaker grilles, but no cargo cover. A friend of mine has a cover that is in horrible shape but still restore-able. He wants to make one out of matte carbon fiber following the factory cover as a template.

Do those rear pillar bars even do anything? Seems like the hatch strut mounts wouldn't really be a very stout place to mount to...

Also, I had no idea JDM S5's had regular belts! Why is it that the Japanese always keep the good stuff for themselves?

The Japanese didn't "keep" the manual belts to themselves, US regulators forced them to use the mousetracks in cars meant for us.
There was a transition period as airbags became a requirement during which you could have auto belts or an airbag.

This is what lead to the schizophrenic nature of the 2nd gen model line, verts got airbags (because no place to mount a mousetrack over the door) and coupes got the cheaper mousetracks (airbags are a bloody expensive system which is why a new car with deployed bags is frequently written off by insurance companies).
