Ok so my question to everyone is how far away is your touge from your house? I have never seen a good touge worthy road less than 45 mins from my house.

15 minutes north on a busy day, and there are 5 roads. 15 south, and there are three.

FWIW, Touge is a noun only. Touging would translate poorly. TEWJ. TOOOOJ.

Driving.

I live in Colorado Springs, there are hills and mountains everywhere! All the roads I drive are within 20 minutes. Even Pikes Peak is less than 30 away from where I live. When my buddy had his Sti he lived at the bottom of the mountain of the main one we run. So ten seconds. It was nice, cause we could hear people going up, so if we had nothin to do, we'd follow em up.

I live in SF bay area.... hundreds of miles of touge in every direction. I am very spoiled. My favorite touge run is about 15 minutes from my house.

I live in Alabama and there are no "touge roads" within 4 hours of my house

And even those wouldn't be worth the 4 hour trip without going to Tennessee .

I still get my fix on the windy back roads near my house. But with sustained speeds of 80+ being easy with only mild traction loss I dont consider them good "touge roads" A touge road to me is just as much time on the brakes as the throttle *thumbs up*. Im so bored its practicaly gotten to the point of getting the cops to chase me for a thrill. I really need to leave alabama XD

Dude seriously? You weren't kidding you were being a dick. First off anyone who compares touge to jeff gordon (which you spelt wrong) is an idiot, nascar is completely different from any import based motorsport. Secondly, red suns? Really that's the best you could come up with, hope you were tugging at the corner of your eyes when you typed that one. This an exteremely precise form of driving that comes with experience and tecnique. Now if you can't be construtive on here I would suggest that you log off the forum and get back to your university of phoenix remedial english class.

I live in the mountains, so as soon as I back out of my driveway.

of course I'm not backing out an Rx7, since it's broken.

to elaborate, I live up a hill off of a canyon road and coming home today I counted 25 turns in 1 mile(according to my trip) and 500 feet of elevation gain off the main canyon road(according to google maps).

Not the best weekend....

So we were at our usual spot this weekend and a deer jumped in front of my friend in mid turn, causing him to smash his 240 hatch into the guardrail! Pretty much totalling the car. Post pics when I get em. Man that sucks so bad, luckily the deer was unharmed tho.

should have just hit the deer...less damage to the car(maybe) and dinner for a few months lol my bro in law back in texas is a louisianna boy and hunts :P

by the way i have a couple pics of a fun run we did this past week just me and two other friends. we hit our usual roads here in placer/el Dorado county area and we decided to split off and cruise through a single lane road(meant for cross traffic) called mosquito rd. through the road there is a granite brige and a suspension bridge, after the suspension bridge hairpins get so sharp and steep it looks like some initial d **** when tak battles the evo III on that one lane road.

here they are(sorry pics done by camera phone):

most of these were done by the granite bridge

this one is at the suspension bridge i was able to take a pic of my car on cause i'm afraid it'll collapse. but you can see the rope they use to keep it from swaying in the wind lol

my friend's z is a S130 turbo so for all of you guys who dont know...its a 280zx turbo. he's running a t4/t3 hybrid with just a boost controller, front mount, koyo radiator and msd blaster coil for mods. its quick but no where near as fast as his old L28ET drop into a 240z lol

i did a few touge runs up here in nor-cal... usually old calaveras... hit mount hamilton a few times... and Highway 9 once... which was a beautiful drive... sadly it was in my girlfriends stock 2007 civic... =( my 7 is down right now... that whole CAS/coil/ignition problem... chased down a 350 for a while, til my girlfriend started to get scared about a little bit of tires losing traction (a little screech here and there) but as soon as i fix my 7 (and have gas haha) im going to 9 again... 17 wouldnt be so bad if it wasnt a major highway

My friend hit a dear in his 7 and nearly totaled his car.

Mosquito Rd. is so awesome, we used to hit it up all the time when my friend lived in Auburn.

^^^ If you feel the deer deserves to die because we're out doin somethin illegal. I will always try to prevent hurting any animals. I live in the mountains of CO, I have had to swerve almost 100 times for deer and other animals. So I see flaws in that logic, cause at least in my experience, because of me swerving, not one deer has been touched and not one scratch on any of my cars. I'm talking about just daily driving too.

Its not that I feel a deer deserves to die, it's just a very bad idea. More accidents have been caused or exacerbated by swerving rather than just braking. The smartest thing to do is just brake if something is in the middle of the road. If it's just on the side of the road the better thing to do is just keep on going. Often a change in speed or direction is what spooks an animal into running into the road.

Not trying to one up anyone, but if you live in the springs, I can honestly say that I live more in the mountains than you do, and I can't remember the last time I had to swerve for an animal. It's not that they aren't running around, it just isn't necessary.

Hmm, I grew up ON Cheyenne Mtn. I can literally say I see wildlife daily. Usually just chillin in peoples front lawns. So yeah, you can live as much on a mountain as me, but how can it be more, considering I've lived on one since I was three...

Oh yeah, was driving to my friends house, and came to a screeching halt for a deer. Just 5 days ago... btw

Uhh.... I've avoided hitting wildlife by swerving, braking, and also by NOT swerving or braking. Just do what is appropriate for the situation.
