Many seemed very confused about the re-stamped models and most have been associated with the GTUs models. I have been talking about that on this thread here and the other owners thread. https://www.rx7club.com/2nd-gen-gene...hread-1144342/

only speculation can be had about why there are re-stamped models. Unfortunately there is no ability for Mazda USA or Mazda Japan to truly verify. These cars have been around for 30 years and no one has been able to truly understand why they were re-stamped. I personally find it to be one of the most unique and rare things to have happened to the FC! This car is so cool because of its options and the restamped vin! also in amazing condition! Really cool!

I have never seen a re-stamped GTUs that was verified and showed the door sticker ID tag. For all we know every single model restamped would have had this door tag. Only to have been found outside of this one and nobody spoke of the door tag ID showing the rim size. I honestly wonder if they were all GTU models models. Interesting stuff, shame Mazda never said anything about why they did this!
