Anyone able to help me with this VIN?
I contacted Mazda for some answers about my Rx7... To no surprise they are NO help at all.. for grins I posted my email conversation with Mazda below.
Anyone have possibly a Carfax account or something? I am out of work at the moment and very busy making some panels for my car and was really wondering what I seem to have here...
Any help is appreciated!

John,
That is highly unusual sir. I have the window sticker and the sales receipt from the dealership here in Texas that sold the car new. VIN# JM1FB3311E0802140. Year Model 1984, Accessories shown on sales slip are "ESP" and "Stripes". Dealership that sold the car new was:
Gorman-McCracken VW, Inc.HWY 259 South, Longview Tx, 75601. Dealer stock # 70997.
I have the Manuals, booklets, and AC warranty from the car when it was new. Perhaps you can check again?
Thank you,
Austin

It has NO sunroof (hardtop NON targa...), digital quartz clock, no power locks or windows. Disc front brakes, drum rear, 13x5 aluminum wheels. 4 Speaker stereo, air conditioning, 3 spoke Mazda steering wheel. The VIN# is the only thing I am sure of. I have found the same VIN on 5 places on the car. Any and all help with it's history would be fantastic. I would like to restore it to it's factory correct trim level and badges etc.

1. i hate to be obvious, but if you have the window sticker, don't you know the trim level?
2. it is actually the SELLING dealerships job to inform MAZDA of the selling date, key number, options etc etc on the car. so its actually gorman-mcracken mazda's fault for not inputting the correct information.
its a weird system, and i have no clue why it was done that way. remember up until the LATE 90's this was done by hand, and snail mail.
which also means that for cars this old the paper records were put on computer at some point.
carfax also doesn't work on cars this old, it'll be blank, but that does not mean it wasn't stolen or wrecked, it just means there is no record, because there won't be one, because its too old

Well.
I have the window sticker but its so damned faded from being in the floorboard for about 10 years out in the woods... I can't read much other than ESP and STRIPES, etc. etc. etc.
So, I promise the obvious does not elude me...
Good point on the recording process. you are correct, however, Gorman McCracken won't return my calls... ugh.
It has Manual mirrors,
Well, I will just call it an S model and be done with it.
thanks,

but yeah, in 84-85 manual mirrors = S model. it should also be missing the map light, and the trunk light.
i just pulled out the 84 brochure and the + wheels are an option on the S, along with the radio (ive NEVER seen one without a radio), and A/C
automatic trans is not an option on the S model....
sticker should be $10,100ish

This rx7 of mine was sold for; $12,695.00 new.
I will just call it an S model but it drives me nuts not knowing what the history of this car was. What can I say, I just like to know things like that... So i guess I will go cough up some cash at the DMV and get past registration information on the car and see where that leads me
Thanks for your input guys!

its most definatly an S model. H1 is the color code which indicates that it was originally sparkling black metallic. in 84, the options for the S were:
-aluminum wheels
-cruise control
-power antenna
-various stereo upgrades
-a/c
the GS included these standard items that the S was NOT available with:
-halogen headlights
-tinted upper windshield band
-power mirrors
-remote hatch release
-driver's side foot rest
-illuminated ignition key hole
-map light
-cargo area light
-illuminated driver's door lock
