Swapping my S5 NA I have a S4 Turbo II donor

Hello Guys.

I need a little direction. I have an S5 Convertible and i have gotten my hands on an 88 Turbo II which was crashed but the engine has only 800 miles after rebuilt and all the drivetrain is intact. My question is what will be the issues with this swap. I have everything on the T2 but i dont know if the S5 power steering or AC will work on the S4 engine. Yes i looked around and this swap is hard to find info on.

Any directions would be a great help.

Unbolt the Steering pump and AC with the bracket ON..that way you just plop it on the TII block and don't need any modification.

The more important question though is how you will run the New engine as it it needs it's ECU as a Minimum to get going.
The S5 harness will not work on the S4 TII engine,so you gotta figure that out.

Since the S4 OMP is mechanical and it seems you plan to use it's ecu. You wouldn't have to delete it if you don't want to. You'll have to decide, do you always want to mess with premixing?

Also not sure but IIRC it's more than just the engine harness that is different and will need to be swapped between the S4 and S5 cars.

it is more than the engine harness, the body and dash harnii are different too. if you have the whole donor car, its just a ton of work.

better bet would be to use the S4 engine, S5 engine harness, and find a T2 ecu, afm, and map sensors

You can use your N/A harness just may need to change some wire lengths. There are two pins that are for different sensors between the two. one is for the knock sensor the other I can't remember right now. I have it written down at home somewhere. I'll try to check later. You'll just need to run them to the proper location. Nothing has to change at the ecu I believe.

As for the ECU it may or may not work right off. Going by this thread it sounds like it can be made to work though.

Quick search from when I was looking into it.

It's a known problem with TII swaps and jspec ecu's.

Ok, apparently I lost where I had it wrote down but here are the differences I spot right off.

Pin-----N/A-------------------------------------------Turbo
1U---AT Switch---------------------------------Mileage sensor no.2

2M---Solenoid Valve----------------------------Knock Sensor
------(Variable Dynamic
------Effect intake control)

3N----EC-AT Control Unit-----------------------Not Used

3R----6-port induction--------------------------Duty solenoid valve
-------system-----------------------------------(Turbo boost control)

So the n/a harness should plug right in to the turbo ecu. Connect what went to the VDI solenoid to the knock sensor and the 6PI to the Duty solenoid valve and that's it on a US ecu( beyond shortening/extending wires to get to their respective places). As per the other threads you'll have to figure out what to do about pin 1U if using a jspec ecu. Also there are a couple pins that are the same for n/a manuals and turbos but are different for an automatic. I didn't list them as I figured the car either is or will be a manual trans when finished.

I have been down the same road you have before. I just went the standalone route, it was easier and no headache.
