Struts/Springs

I am about to replace the strut assembly on a 1987 coupe. I was wondering what brand and type people have used with good results. I would like to get the strut/spring single assembly. I don't drive the car hard but want something decent without breaking the bank. And has anyone ever change the oil pan gasket on the same vehicle? If so, how big of a job is it? I have read some information that says you actually have to raise the motor to get at it. That sounds a little strange. Thanks for any assistance.

I am curious too, I will give you a bump. There are many suspension threads on here, many are old though.

Many are very happy with a Racing Beat lowering springs and AGX shocks. Both are still available.

Some of the other springs that I found drop the car farther than those so, I am a hard pass. Any OEM springs available?

Shocks seem fairly plentiful and varied. I am using OEM shocks and old springs. They could be staging a bit but for now it will do.

I bought a set of no longer available Eibach progressives. Those will be installed in the next year or two with AGX or similar shocks.

You can get race style coils from Ground Control. Those seem popular. You might be able to order them with various spring rates, I don't recall. Eventually, I assume I will have a set of these or similar too. Having extra storage in the garage helps.

Any suspension guru's want to help here, I am not very knowledgeable at this yet. Thanks!

A far as the pan gasket goes, The pan won't come off without at least one of the engine mounts off. Not to mention, the other one might get in the way as well. A jack with a 2x4 or similar on the flat spot on the bottom of the transmission is an easy way to support the engine. Having an engine should work if it doesn't sag over night, etc. There are plenty of threads going over this.
