Sound db of a Bridgeport w/ no mufflers?

Just curious, has anyone ever measured the sound db of a Bridge ported 13b without mufflers?

Over this past weekend at the Woodward Dream cruise, there was this mean Bridgeported Suzuki Samurai without mufflers, loudest thing I have ever heard... ever! There was also a bridge ported 13b with mufflers, and that was very tame compared to the Samurai.

No, but they had 2 stroke engines in the 70's.

Not from the factory, but they're pretty common for rotary swaps.

There was a 12a Street Ported Toyota Starlett without mufflers too, that was loud, as loud as my old NA set-up when I decided to drive it with just a header. That didn't compare to the Samurai though. I've been on several flight lines before, and it was no kidding as loud as some of the jets or louder.

Stupid, stupid loud. So loud it makes your brain itch. Loud enough to get you banned from most any race track.

dB wise? Never measured but if I had to guess, 145 - 150 dB at close range (obviously dB measurement is logarithmic).

Well into the point of permanent hearing damage.

Agreed.
Without any muffler, ear plugs and ear muffs on, its still loud enough to teach you that you can also hear through your teeth. Not pleasant at all.

Yeah, it was STUPID loud, I agree with hearing through your teeth. I've always wondered what one would sound like, and how "cool" it would be hearing it hit the rev limited with no muffler...

Never again.

Having been in the presence of a peripheral ported 4 rotor, I'd say the bridgeported 13B is louder. At least with the 4 rotor there was an exhaust cancelling effect.

I started up my car one time with only the dual-exit header on in order to move it into a building. Never again...

I have a video somewhere of a Starlet idling at the starting line at the dragstrip, and you can't hear the car next to it doing a burnout. Or anything else, and I was at the 1/8mi mark.
