Questions from a future FC owner

Hi,

I always loved the FC RX-7 and I'm finally able to afford one.

There is one not far from where I live, it is a 1991 Turbo II convertible.

But before buying it I have a few questions :

- Will the turbo harm the engine more than a NA engine ? I don't have an aggressive driving.
- It is convertible, but is there some leaking problems on these cars ?
- I saw people saying that it is good to use 2 stroke oil in the gas tank, even if the omp is still working. Is that true ?
- What are the things I should look out for when buying an FC ?
- I know how a rotary engine works and I restore some MGB and MGA with my dad but I'd like to know how to properly work on rotaries. Any tips ?

Thanks, these are a few questions that I have, but I also take any informations that will help me when buying/using an FC !

not really, it is getting more power from the same size engine, so they tend to wear out more quickly, but it was engineered to have a turbo so its, well its a standard Japanese car, it will go 100,000km's or more without much work

these are really really well made, but it is also ~30 years old. so there aren't really design problems, more like old age problems

it doesn't hurt, but it doesn't help much either

everything, the FC is really complex. interior, all of the electronics. look at the bodywork, bad collision repair is a problem here. as far as the engine, it shouldn't leak, it should start and run just like any other car. a puff of smoke on startup is acceptable, but other than that it should not smoke at all.

its just an engine, all of the basics apply... the thing that catches people out is that Mazda has several really basic systems, and then they are all on top of each other. for instance the air pump setup is really similar to the MGB, but the Rx7 also has the oil metering system, the fuel injection, etc etc.
