Passed Emission but failed inspection
For reference, I am in Maricopa County AZ.
I have an 88 Vert, 70k miles on the car. Just had an emissions/inspection completed and the car passed emissions well, but failed the Equipment / Pressure Inspection, specifically the pressure test. Emissions, EVAP, and fuel cap are all passed, however. Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this sorted out? I’m thinking about just going with classic car insurance to do away with this but since the car already has a failure in its history I'm not sure if I can do it, it seems I just have to get this fixed. From the emissions diagram, I think it could be the fuel check/cut valve that's causing the pressure test failure, or it could just be old hosing finally failing. I still have a couple of weeks before registration is needed, as I was anticipating something like this, but I was expecting it to be something with the actual emissions, not with the equipment lol.
Thanks

i'm not sure how they do that test in AZ, but in CA they put a pair of pliers on the Evap hose in the engine bay, and then pressurize the fuel tank. the trick i guess is that the FC uses a small diameter hose and i guess every other car uses a big one, so my smog guy always wants to use the wrong hose, he wants to use the one between the canister and the engine, which won't work.
