Thanks

i have a 94 and i when i got my car inspected they didn't even do emissions testing, i believe that if the car is older than some year amount they don't test for emissions anymore. someone correct me if i'm wrong but i'm positive my car did not go through emissions and i passed

They don't test emissions on cars older than '96 in NC anymore. They will check, or are suppose to do a visual. So... no sniffer test, just a visual. Like they really know what they know what they're looking for in the first place on our cars

That visual inspection is only for cars that have been registered in NC for at least 3 years. If it is an out-of-state car, owned by a legal resident of the US of A, then it must establish a solid record of posing no threat to our delicate environment for 3 consecutive years. However, if the car was driven in to the US by an illegal alien, I mean undocumented alien, then it can be put on any of our state highways, can't be touched by the NCHP and has only to pay instate tuition for any repairs and services necessitated by the rough pavement and potholes found on this countries largest network of "State maintained" public roads. I think I've got that right.

So if you drive your rotary thru Mexico on your way to NC from Montana and learn how to say "No hable ingles" the NC DMV will give you a drivers license, register you to vote, hand you a fist full of food stamps, and insure that you get the winning state "education" lottery ticket.

Since i'll be coming from Montana which doesn't have any emissions at all, will that change anything? What is involved in the visual check?
