Help!

My 86 fc is burning a ton of oil. It’s very weird tho, only after 5k rpm will it burn oil. And yes, I know, rotaries do that, but these are serious smoke screen amounts. Omp is still in place and motor only has 15k ish miles on it. Also a little bit of smoke on startup but from what I’ve heard that’s normal.

this picture is only at 5k rpms not even touching redline

Were the oil seals/springs replaced during rebuild?
Are you losing coolant?

Not losing coolant, even by the smell you can tell it’s oil. Seals and springs are new

Did you replace the thermal pellet? Maybe the control ring springs are backwards.

I did not do the rebuild and the sheets are gone so I have no clue, but it almost never smokes under load so I don’t plan on revving it while in neutral.

If you put the springs in backwards you would be burning oil at high rpm.

Curious there appears to be flames from the mufflers at only 5,000RPM.

Yeah it confuses me as well, mufflers cats everything. It is a header back exhaust but the smoke is what worries me, although it just means I’m getting more oil than I need so I have to buy more
