Handbrake light comes on when accelerating

It has been happening more frequently recently. I have looked at a few other threads and checked my brake fluid reservoir and it's full, although it may be old. My brakes feel good and responsive, and the handbrake still has been doing its job. I'm not super worried but I'd rather know why it's happening so I can fix anything that needs to be fixed. So overall the question is what could be causing it?

it only comes on for two things, if the brake fluid is low or the parking brake is on. if its got fluid, maybe there something stuck in the handbrake switch? its just a really simple mechanical thing

Maybe. This may be a stupid question but what is the best way to check that, is it the part of the switch that's part of the handle?

if its anything like an s2k, even with fluid the float inside the reservoir can stick and cause the light to illuminate.
