At a crossroad with investment

I bought a S5 91 from a builder. So the engine is a TII with new seals etc. and has about 1 hrs of runtime. My plan was and is to keep the car looking stock (i.e not a bunch of track/wide/drift exterior). Everything is there except for a pair of sidemolds from having a paintrefresh (anyone have some lying around?). But I want some more ompf in the car.

I used to own a FD with about 300hp so my goal is around there as that felt safe for my driving habits (heavy on the throttle). So my issue now is that I don't really know what will give me the most for my money invested. Seeing as the engine is freshly buildt and according to the builder the irons were mint there should be some value in it. Should I invest money in the 13Bt or sell it and get a 13bre or possibly a cosmo 13b as they seem to be able to push the number i'm looking for without to many internal modifications. However I have no clue what a refreshed TII engine is worth compared to a 13brew. Ofc I would get a standalone ecu (looking at a Haltech 1000 or similiar) either way.

The car is meant to be a driver and not sit in my garage. At least not when the weather permits. I've started doing the supporting mods. Uprated fuelpump, clutch and soon there will be a cooling job. But before I do that I need to figure out what engine the piping should be made for. I have a somewhat limited knowledge to this but it's also the reason why I want to do it. I know both options will cost money but neither time or money will be an issue as I want this to be my project car for years to come.

if time and money don't matter how is this an investment?

a t2 is capable of 280-300hp and its pretty simple, no point to swap engines for only that much hp. you need some extra fuel, and a way to control it. the exhaust needs to be 3", you need a larger turbo, and a better intercooler wouldn't hurt

Fuel pump: walbro is a good choice, buy from either walbro direct, or a reusable vendor, there are fakes
ECU: i've always used old HKS F-Cons, but a standalone ECU would be better, haltech, power FC, etc
Injectors: 4x720cc injectors will work, but you can also replace just the secondaries with ~1000cc
Exhaust: Racing beat has the default, its available, quiet. all the JDM companies have made exhausts for the FC.
Turbo: BNR has something i think at this point its a new turbo and you just re-use the exhaust housing for your old one
Intercooler: HKS, ARC and Re-Amemyia have had upgraded ones, plenty of front mount kits too

By investment I meant placing my time to enjoy building the car when time permits. So is the money going into the thing (try convince the missus it's a good car to buy parts for )

Great tips on the different parts. My thought on the engine swap was that it would roughly be the same cost. But isn't the irons stronger on the 3rd gen if the bug for hp would get you?

Yeah I have been searching around and saw the BNR kits. I was thinking of doing that if not going for the swap.
The fuelpump I replaced with is a DW300 (340l/h).

Injectors were on the list but wasn't sure how big they had to be. The Racing Beat was my first choice. Either that or the Apexi GT single. The ECU I can source when it's time locally. Most parts I need to order from abroad as these cars aren't that common here anymore (hardly ever where, Sweden).

As for the intercooler. The only one I managed to find was the Type 24 from Greddy. Seems hard to find specific ones for the FC. Might just have to make one.
