Hey guys, I'm new to this and thought I might get some great advice from this site. I have a 1988 mazda rx7 that has been sitting for around 5 years, I bought it to restore it did all the basic maintenance like spark plugs, motor oil, bleed breaks and clutch, radiator. Anyways, I ran it off carb cleaner to see if it would even run, and it did. So long story short, after further investigating, I replaced the gas tank, fuel lines, filter, and pump, and even made my own fuel sending unit because a new one would've cost 450. But now that everything's working, it only starts, then coughs a whole lot and dies.

 

If basic maintenance has been performed it's time to tune the TPS and potentially get a compression test since it's sat for so long. Also, it's a good idea to send the injectors off to be cleaned after sitting for so long.
