changed spark plugs and it still misses

i have an 88 TII
throttle body mod
banjo bolt replacement
emmisions elimination

my car was missing alot....
during idle mostly
when i hammer it, it would kinda shudder then kick right in....mostly when boosting......
i changed my plugs last weekend and know the shudder under acceleration is no longer there, but it still misses while idleing......
New plug wires maybe?.....they seem to be alright though.....
anyone have any suggestions....

are you sure your wires are on right? I made a mistake with the plug wires and it misfired badly. Did you try higher octane gas maybe that will help. I really dunno but try what I suggested. I don;t think it is 3800 rpm hesitation.

the wires are right....and its not a bad misfire....
you can just hear it sputter during idle.....and the occasional break up while im getting on it.....
i use 93 octane.....
I have to fix this as it make my engine sound old and decrepid

Most rotaries exhibit a slight tendency to misfire at idle. Normal operations. Your mods are probable accentuating the problem just a little.

I have the same problem on a '90 NA. Changed plugs, wires, re-set TPS, and checked CAS to no avail. Sounds like a misfire only at idle. Need to check under car for exhaust leak. Wimp here, its too cold to crawl under winter garaged car. Have you checked for an exhaust leak. Small leak could sound like leak at idle and not be heard when reving.

any holes in the pluming or in the mufflers would cause a leak. Messed up gaskets where the pipes connect could cause a leak.

Where is it missing. Is it only at 3800 rpm? Is it low rpm only? i know the low rpm hesitation/miss could be related to the tb mod.

i do have the hesitation, but usually only while hammering it....and it used to sputter a bit while hammering, but that went away when i changed the sparkplugs (which werent too bad when i took them out)
it only sounds like it does it during idle, or when my foot isnt on the gas......

Not really, some of us call the "idle farts". The car kinda pops, every once in a while, at idle.

Just the sound of a happy rotary. Now if the motor is jumping all over the place in the engine bay, and the idle is wandering, thats indicative of a more serious problem.

the idle doesnt wander at all really....it stays where it stays..
although it is a bit high.....
surely the missing isnt just a happy rotary though....
it jsut sounds wierd enough to **** me off.....
surely theres a way to make it lesson or quit completely

if your hearing a "pop, pop.....pop, pop" sound thats normal those are actually mini backfires that is caused from runing rich at idle (normal)

I've had thee TIIs now. I currently own an '89 with only 45000 miles on it, like new condition. It has the slight miss at idle just like all the other ones i've owned. Like the guys said....sounds like it's normal.

if you have a stock air filter, check to make sure that the foamy seal around the edge hasn't melted and gotten into your AFM. it will cause it to stick when the engine is cold. I had that problem and it would bog badly till I got over 4000. could barely put on the gas in the morning or else it would buck like mad.
