Car doesn't crank/start, newbie needs help
I recently bought a 1986 FC and she doesn't start/crank at all and I thought it was the same problem a lot of people were having with the anti-theft system preventing the car from starting since the security light is flashing in the center console.
When I turn the key on the on position most of the electronics work, the headlights, taillights, signal lights, AC, the only thing that doesn't work electrically is the horn but I don't think that it's related. Also in the on position, the radiator fan is on and when I turn it to start I hear one click, the radiator fan turns off and a very quiet subsequent series of clicks.
It might also be relevant that the previous owner said that it needed a new fuel pump relay and I can't hear the fuel pump running for obvious reasons.
So I disconnected the whole 16 pin security module under the glove box to disable the security system, then tried to start again, nothing except for one click and the radiator fan turning on still.
Then I did some more digging in the forums and saw that you could jump the two pins with the large B/G wire and large B/W wire in the starter cut relay which is what I did next, still nothing. So when I had the key on start I measured that I got 12 volts between those two pins when I was checking it without the jumper but when I connect the jumper and measure between the exposed contacts of the jumper wire while the key is on start I get 0 volts. Don't know if that is because the contacts are bad on my jumper wire or if I just need to brush up on my electrical knowledge and I'm missing something.
So after that, I just started doing small tests around checking continuity on the 80A main fuse (still good), then checked if I was getting voltage to the starter. The starter does get 12V since it's connected directly to the battery on the diagram I saw on FSM but it stays at the same voltage when I turn the key to start, with no voltage drop at all. Now I'm thinking it could be bad ground or connections to the starter or the ignition switch that could be the problem which I'll be testing today so I'll post updates after the other testing I'll be doing.
I'm still very new to the platform so any suggestions will help a lot, thanks!

trying to find out where the starter cut out relay is and what does it look like. 1989 rx 7 convertable. Do not have current going from the iginition to energize the starter. Also does anybody know how to get to the convertable to motor and where is it.

probably best to start a new thread for your issues, but make sure you press in the clutch because there is a switch attached to the top of the pedal near the firewall, if that switch isn't depressed by the pedal then no battery power will be supplied. Also use the website foxed.ca or some other resource to look at wiring diagrams that will help you locate the starter relay
