No start.. New Starter/selinoid... still, no start
1988 Rx7 GXL
5spd
okay well this reminded me exactly like a seloniod problem,
I had my single click from my relay, checked with volt meter, power is getting to selonoid fine.... so i replace my starter/selenoid.
put it in, rehooked my battery, went to turn over...
nothing... but there is this small sizzle, when i turn the key to the off position.
so
turn over
click
nothing,
turn back
turn off
sizzle.
so its not my starter, selonoid..
i checked the + wire to the starter,
connected with the ground wire that also fits in on one of my starter bolts
everythings fine there...
any ideas?
thanks
88Durel
pervious start: Turned car off, wouldnt start.... just the click
next day pushed it into parking lot, dad got in(heavier man)
kind afell into the car... and it started...
drove it home, turned it off...
no start.
changed starter/selonoid.
sizzle seems to come from alternator area? perhaps...

Jumper the solenoids small blade to the power wire and see if the starter turns over.
IF it does not, then ???? battery terminals not clean?
Or turn the head lights on and look at them when you turn the key to start. Do they dim radically? Battery terminals again....maybe.
And Utrx7.........if you have a car that starts good when cold and does not start when its hot, try something OTHER than a fuel cut switch (nothing really wrong with fuel cut switches), and the next time you get the engine hot, turn it off. Then remove the wire from pin 3B at the small plug of the ECU (BLACK with Blue stripe or vice versa). It's on the bottom row, far right.
Then go start you car and drive around a lot, stopping and starting several times. I believe you'll find the NO Start When Hot characteristic goes south on you.
There is a draw back to this method, but try it anyway. I think you'll be surprised how it works verywell for No Start When Hot cars.
