89 Turbo vert - Question on preventive maintenance
Hi, I am a new owner of an -89 turbo, totally stock with 100k miles on the meter.
Have been reading about all kinds of problems with the engine and wanted some advise in terms of preventive maintenance (apart from the obvious ones like oil/filter). Would be grateful if you have any tips in terms of things that can be changed to be on the safe side? Rubber hoses? Any engine parts which should be replaced?
FYI, this is not my daily driver and it will not run for more than 500 miles per year.
Thanks!

500 miles a year is pretty easy. keep the oil fresh.
if you remember the old Top Gear challenges, most of those cars die from overheating/cooling system problems. the Cooling system needs to be kept up. fresh coolant, and make sure all the hoses and the thermostat are in excellent shape.

Big preventive maintenance items. Oil changes (even if the oil is old not just milage) and the cooling system. Check all of those tiny hoses that sit under the UIM. It's also a good idea to change your water pump out. Old ones will leak out of the bottom. Do a checkup of your wiring harness, allot of issues can rise from just a crack wire.
