It's good to see I'm not the only one digging great N/A threads out of the past and breathing new life into them

Well, I was looking around for some good NA threads and I have to say this is probably one of the best I've found. I enjoyed reading through all 5 pages of it (thinking of when my NA FC will come).

I just couldn't let it be dead....

Hell, I forgot about this thread when I went away from my puter for four weeks over the holidays.

I will have to catch up. I stopped reading when it was only on page three!

Hey

WoW .. the fastes stock 7 I saw was a 10.2. It had a drop in filter thats it... Mabey tires. 10.1 is awsome. Sounds like your in perfect runing condition. I have seen one with headers make a 9.9 and one that was striped with full intake and exaust make 9.6 but havnt seen any others run. Havnt seen anyone do low 9s. Sounds tough.

This should be made a sticky, or put in it's own category

With all of my mods, I'm tempted to take mine to the strip to see what it can run in the 1/8th.

I'll be dynoing it pretty soon.

Last time I ran a 9.9 with a 2.4 60 ft time, spinning my tires through 1st and half of 2nd. I also had a hesitation problem at redline, that was killing my top end part of the track.

Ill be going back in ~ 2 weeks, now with some sticky rear tires, a LSD, and my engine finally running strong in the top end.

I think I can do low 9's, but we'll just have to wait and see how low I can go

Ported black elbo

How do you Port the black elbo?
i'm going to port the TB and intake manifold
another question when you take off the intake manifold to port it don't you need a new intake manifold gasket??
if so where an you find one??

All-motor baby!!!

Whew...

Scathart - 720s are probably wayyyy too much fuel for an NA at any power level, but it'd probably be controllable with an S-AFC or similar - I'm planning on using 550's. 550's should be good for at least 250hp, and not too many NA 13Bs get to that level. If you're using nitrous, though, 720 would be good. I'm looking at the S-AFC too...

You can get a 3" pipe through the front firewall - I'd got a big K&N you can see through the front bumper slots, much better than a firewall - just be sure to put a shield in front of it to cut down on rocks and water hitting it. I'm going to add one of those AEM safety vents before I get back on the road.

If you're doing minor porting just port-match the intake, block, and between the intake sections. I'm still researching polishing, but it looks like you don't want to polish the runners at any point after fuel enters the system - without the turbulence from the rough walls, a lot of fuel just sticks to the walls. I still have to look into this one, search for "porting manifold" type threads on the forum.

Consider whether you want low-end driveability as well as high-end power. Some TB mods hurt low-end, the fact that you're keeping the 6-ports indicates you want some low-end too...

14's is easy. 13's is possible, beware what 4.30's does to your shifting, though. It should be fine, if you can tune it so you pass quarter without shifting into 5th (I think you should, you'd shift at what, like 115-120mph?).

As to the spark plug issue, the Trailing hole is tiny, about 1/8". You'd never protrude past it and hit an apex seal, but I wouldn't take the washer off anyway, because you could screw up the dynamics of the spark if it's arcing around on the block instead of between the electrodes on the plug. I'd add more voltage rather than move the plug closer.

I've got a housing right here, and I don't think the Leading would protrude either, but I'd still rather not risk it, I'd say add more spark instead of moving it closer. The Leading hole is big enough for it to actually protrude, theoretically (I didn't cut a spacer out and try it... just put a plug in and eyeballed it.

You'll probably be faster than me, I'm planning on smogging the car.

When you port the black elbo, you take off the inside bends, edge. Its a pretty good sized lip. I did'nt notice a difference, but its just a little better air flow through that section.

Do a search on the 6 ports question. its been asked so many times.

anyways... so the best n/a would be.. par example..

Remove : Air pump , Power Steering , A/C , Hot Start , Charcoal Canister

T2 Fuel Pump
Rb headers , Down Pipe , Prescilencer
Pullys
Intrax Muffler
Electric Fan
Hks Intake
10 lbs Flywheel Alum
Heavy Duty Clutch Plate
550cc secondarys
Fd Alternator
4:30 Gears

and

Port: Manifold , Upper Intake , Lower Intake
Remove 6 ports
Med/High Street Port
RB racing rotors

this would yeild around 250hp -280... this is the path i think im going to start going down.. anything else i could add to squeeze extra hp without nos...

what about using the TII rotor housing so as to get rid of the exhaust diffuser, and the TII intermediate housing. Anyone want to comment on what changes when you use the TII intermediate housing?

Me and RX7impreza are building a n/a motor with S5 internals and a TII center housing. Its getting a moderate to big street port, and ported exhaust, with the duffused grinded out. We'll be sure to posy how it turns out. Im expecting good numbers from this engine.

If you have a header then you can't have a downpipe.
You might need something to increase your spark, like a Crane HI-6 or the MSD.

Yeah, but the downpipe attaches to the exhaust manifold where as the header, which attaches to the block, extends all the way to the silencer.
