anyone know how i would do this on a piston engine? say........a 3 cylinder geo metro, i think its carburated, how much do i put in? im probably going to gut the cat out anyways, any know how it works on a piston if it helps it run any better?

If you go back over the replies a couple of people know about using ATF in a piston engine. I'm not one of them but hey you make it 50 replies I think I need to updated to "rotary legend" status, I didn't think anyone would take an interest this thread has been up before, but its good to see alot of people are going out to do this trick so we can keep the '7s on the road that much longer!
duh the ATF trick is actually an old mechanic trick for cleaning lifters and valves in a piston engine. yeah it'll work the only difference that comes to mind is this: It's impossible to hydrolock a rotary. On a piston engine too much ATF can bend a rod so you have to be conservative with the ATF.

Did you use fresh plugs once the ATF had burned off? If not, then the plugs were fouled out and that would account for it I think.
The ATF wouldn't have gotten into your oil. What might have happened is this; after doing it the car was hard to start because of all the ATF and fouled plugs, so the engine flooded and you actually got GAS into the oil. In that case you would need new oil.
Is that what happened or did you not follow the procedure? Maybe you were do for an oil change? How does the car run now?

After craking the car and letting it run for about 20min. I let it cool down....actually I let it sit overnight again. Then I changed plugs. After I changed the plugs I noticed the bad idle, power loss.
I then changed the oil and all is well. The car runs perfect/better now.
