Well I'm actually not sure of doing this. The point is that I'm considering buying a Spirit R or for about the same budget converting an older FD to a 20B setting. Well, and I'm asking the ones who have done it or well know the problem, which will be for you the best choice?

Go Spirit R. Very rare OEM and much less of a headache.

20b Conversion

Just a suggestion for anyone considering building a 20b. I have one where the stock 20b housings were swapped with ported 13b housings. (All you really need to make a 3rotor is the big center iron and the e-shaft) By using the 13b housings we then had the standard motor mount points and we could drop the motor right in on the stock mounts. Resulting in perfect steering geometry and no need for bump steer correction. Also saving close to 2 grand for a subframe/bumpsteer conversion kit.

With regards to the transmission question-the stock FD tranny is up to the job hower I upgrade the driveshaft to the 800hp aluminum one sold by the "Driveshaft Shop" and chromalloy axles. My Borg-warner S-400 turbo'd 20b FD makes around 840hp at 22psi and thishandles it. Now if you are stupid you can break anything. I recommend Pettit Racing's rebuilt transmissions. They lap the synchro's and do a very professional build for around$900. A fair buck but heck I see used ones of unknown condition go for near $500 all of the time.

Dont forget about the 20B exclusive bolts to put all of it back together! :-)
(just incase someone thinks they can "Just" find a center mid plate and E-shaft)

Oh good, I'm glad to know I can still use the 13B intake manifold, exhaust manifold, OMP, oil pan, EMS, etc.

lol!

Well, I've been doing some research and the 20b seems to be something that can be achieved far later in my life. In the meantime, I'm just cruising the 20b forums, gathering as much info as possible.

Thanks for the update and senseless thread revival. There needs to be a damn quiz that one should have to pass rather than simply agreeing to terms and conditions to become a member. Rules on posting etiquette need to be observed.

I originally offered it at $55,000, when it was new. My latest posted price was $28,500. That's really a bargain, since it has a freshly re-built motor (less than 7000 miles on it), new tires (less than 2000 miles), re-engineered cooling system and is getting a Tec3r installed at the moment.

Before somebody gives me grief for responding to a thread that I had already responded to, let me acknowledge that I had forgotten about it, since it was so old.

Nearest Swap shop to me?

I'm looking to do a 20b swap in my 93' FD sometime within a year or so. I'm located in the panhandle of Florida just east of Pensacola. Curious if anyone knows a reliable & experienced shop to help me out with it close to where I'm at. My budget will be in the 15-25k range. I'd appreciate some recommendation.. or just direct me to where I need to go to get the answers I'm looking for. THANKS
