What size an fitting for 20b Front cover?

Hello,

I am trying to see if someone knows the proper size an fitting for the front cover of the 20b.

I know I used 18mm to 10an for the FD front cover, but the 18mm is too large for the 20b front cover.

Does anyone know the size for the front cover of the 20b OR would it be better to drill/tap so that my 18mm fitting works?

Thanks in advance,

Nick

You would have to drill and tap so you can properly run -10 throughout the oil system. Using a fitting to increase the size wont have the same effect because, the fitting will be a restriction. Mazda went smaller because the 20b was rpm limited by the torque converter and auto tranny. In our application, you need more oil flow volume. I retained the banjo bolt setup off the fd with that quick disconnect. On the opposite end of that disconnect, I simply cut the factory crimp section off to remove the orginal factory hose and then installed some -10 parker push-lok hose with a clamp and ran to my coolers. The smaller port on the 20b's front cover is the reason I fitted the Fd cover. I also wanted to take advantage of the fd trigger setup since it's non mechanical and FAR more reliable.

Thanks for the help!

Because I'm running the ffe trigger kit I will probably just stick with drilling and tapping the 20b front cover. I contemplated the fd front cover, but was talked back into the keeping the stock 20b cover.

Would you happen to have a pic of your set-up?

Thanks again,
Nick

The FC and both Cosmo engines use 16mm x 1.5 thread, no need to drill it out, I have never had a problem with any 20B's or even with the FD engines that we install into FB's.

Half way down the page Oil Cooler Parts (93+ RX-7)
