Tranny adapter
Tranny adapter
Look what I found. Don the Man from Marvelspeed has been making these for 20 years. This is one designed to use a 95 Camaro 6-speed with the stock mazda starter, and clutch hydraulics.
I think it is running about $300. He hasn't mass produced them, and this is the one that he has in stock, but I'll find out how much he wants for it for sure, and if there are more interested, it would most likely cut the price for all parties.

it looks like that goes between the r box (ribcase, rx2,3,4,5,t2,fd,929,mpv,b2600; they haven't changed it since 1970) bellhousing, and the camaro tranny. so you would use whatever starter/clutch/flywheel you had before, you only need a clutch disk that fits your clutch and the camaro input shaft. thats what it looks like to me anyways, i could be wrong

You would need a clutch disc that had a camaro pattern on the splines (you know what I mean, I'm tired), so that it will match up with the camaro input shaft.
BTW, 93-02 V8 F-bodies used the T-56. Well, again, I'm tired, so, let me clarify... I know that in 95, they were a T-56... and I know that from then on, they were. The styling and application changed slightly when GM introduced the LS1 motor into the F-Body.
Don said he is sourcing the supplies right now and will have a price hopefully this week. I guess one of the hard parts is getting a good deal on some big *** chunks of billet aluminum to keep the price down.

Yes I know its a year old-thanks for your help.............you would think by now there would be a conclusion one way or the other-HAS ANYONE GOT A T56 TRANSMISSION INSTALLED IN THEIR MAZDA? Behind a rotary engine?????
people have done it...
the T-5 and T-56 trannies dont like high RPM shifts. the 20b w/ 7-8k shifts will work but a 13b loving 10k shifts will never grab on a regular bases successfully. Also there have been issues at the track w/ the shifter spinning and wacking people in the leg. Tremec tranny..its the cobra, viper, camaro and firehawk tranny. couple others too but....

From a performance standpoint yes, but it's great for fuel economy. Thats why Vettes and Camaros owners can brag about their great "highway"gas mileage. Hell their rpms at 60 mph are what????? 1,400rpms vs around 2,400 rpms for ours? That makes a huge differance! Just think how a 20b's fuel economy would improve with a tall 6th gear. Unlike the 13b, a 20b would have enough low end torque to handle low rpm cruising just like v8's. If my tranny ever goes out, I will look into a 6 speed for this every reason.
