Ordering a Tremec TKO 600, few questions.

I'm going to dump my stock POS transmission and order a Tremec TKO 600 this week. I need to know if someone makes an adapter for RPM and Speed sensors? If not, what are you guys with upgraded transmissions doing?

Two things:

Lupe, is there a bellhousing that will allow that tranny to bolt up to a rotary?

There is a adapter to fit between the upgraded tranni and the stock bellhousing. I think that adapter is around $300. Apparently, with the tremec........ a high dollar spacer is needed too.

I checking on a G-force tranni now, I'm also waiting to here from them about sending my stock tranni to them and filling it with G-Force guts.

We'll see.

that sounds awesome lupe! keep us posted. ME and sillbeer were looking at built T56's a while back. it was around 2500 or so out the door for a brand new t56, but then you need custom clutch, driveshaft, mounting, etc, etc

Lupe, have you checked out the upgraded tranny internals that Acosta Racing offers? It's pretty reasonably priced, and fits in the stock tranny housing.

Destin,

Sorry, for the life of me, I can't find the thread that I saw it on. But I know it was 20B 3rd Gen who had mentioned it, and I PMed him for further info. It was a 20B 1200hp tranny, dogmission (clutchless) (I checked my PMs). So I'd hit up Marco Acosta.

On the flipside (bad news), when I was searching for the thread that 20B 3rd Gen mentioned this tranny in, I came across this post:

Here's a link to the post: https://www.rx7club.com/showpost.php...5&postcount=14 And that's from Ivan (Russian FD owner) who's the only guy I've read so far that has straight up broken a tranny from pure power. Broke at 780rwhp (see this thread: https://www.rx7club.com/20b-forum-95/damaged-tranny-my-20b-today-368723/), and apparently he broke the Acosta tranny too (see the post I quoted above). But he did mention that this is the 13B tranny, not the 20B one.

Anyone know how much Acosta charges for the upgraded stock tranni? Also, what's changed?

I couldn't find any info.

Thanks.

The trany is designed by liberty transmissions. Everything internally is replaced with stronger parts. Dont quote me on the price but When I was taliking with Marcos I believe it was a 5000 dollar trany. Same as the Guru box. If you do a search in the 20b section look for a post about (What to do about Transmission)
By the way its noy listed on the acostamotorsports web site but almost nothing really is. Just pictures.

The last couple of days i've started the tranny hunt too. I have my car running decent at 15psi, and I am worried about turning it up more w/o blowing a tranny. I beleive Ivan blew his at 1.4 bar so about 20psi.

I heard a quote lower than that. I'm not saying anything though because Acosta insisted that ppl talk to HIM. Call him, and ask him how much for his tranny for a forum member. He offers both just the internals, or if you ship the tranny to him, internals + assembly.

But I never said it was cheap. I don't think you're gonna get away w/ a high hp tranny for $2500. You gotta pay to play. Below $5K is reasonable, given the $6K Greddy upgraded internals, and the HKS dogmission which is like $11K IIRC.

I know he wants to sell a few but I believe its still 4000.00 to 4500.00.

Ding ding! And in comparison to the competition, I really don't think that's so bad. If you REALLY are hurting from the price, IMO, the best route is to stick to the stock FD tranny. They're cheap and handle tons of power. Keep buying and going thru 'em. You'll get through at least 8 of 'em until you've reached the cost of the Acosta tranny, and what...hmm...22 of 'em until you reach the HKS Dogmission cost

I believe that's the definition of a dogmission tranny This isn't RX-7 related, but check out this webpage for further info re: dogmissions: http://www.magnusmotorsports.com/transmission.htm

Oh and FYI, just to clarify what I said earlier, hp doesn't brake a tranny. It's the torque.
