damaged tranny with my 20b today

Hello everybody!

Today I finally smashed 3gen 5 speed tranny on a dyno.
Last result was a 780rwhp on a pump gaz. Not that bad for the begining. Going to reach 1000hp with 110 octane.

But first I need to think about new tranny.

Please reccomend me good tranny upgrade if anybody knows.

thanks!

Ivan

yes, i really russian, located in moscow. is that so special ?

i am not sure that has been broken exactly inside, I just lost 4th gear.
It happend on a dyno at estimately 7000rpm then i momentally reached rpm limit.
i thought i broke driveshaft because i have custom one but 1-3 gears worked fine, just produce strange sounds. looks like teefs of the 4 gear smashed out.

i have standard rear end just tomei 2way lsd installed.

i did not run a car much with such a power so there is no proof that 780hp is a peak.
it can be much less...

thinking about g-force tranny, just need to custom make bellhousing.
it will be a hard task though.. maybe someone could help?

stock fd subframe, custom hood...
i will make pictures and post here soon

config is as follows:

20b, big street ported, RA 2mm apex seals, solid corner seals
custom engine mounts,driveshaft,etc
os giken r2cd clutch
custom intake manifold with 100mm holley TB
6x1600cc RC eng. injectors with custom rails
aeromotice eliminator puel pump and an10 based fuel system
100mm intercooler piping with custom big intercooler
twin big earl oil coolers and cooper radiator
innovative turbo gt80r/bb turbo with custom 60mm exhaust manifold and hks racing WG
twin msd dis-4 ignition amplifiers
aem ems in custom 6 coils direct fire mode

what else?
ah, yes bn-sports widebody kit
tomei 2 way lsd
ohlins pcv dampers

and a long list of less significant mods

i need to tell you guys that 20b chasis is not that robust enough for the 20b engine at all...
if we want to get real 1000hp from it looks like we need to pay really big attention to streightening chasis and suspension...

pump gaz here is 98 research or 89 motor octane.

i forgot to mention that i am using vodka injection

boost is 1.4 bar

going to run up to 30 psi

just not sure about RA seals... but will try anyway with 110 octane gaz this winter.

attaching few older photos, dont have newer yet, will make soon

Nice!! Can you do me a huge favor?? If you are using stock subframe, that means you have custom oil pan, can you take some pics of your oil pan?? I been wanting to see one and no one here in USA would post one.. I need detail pics.

I guess you got your engine built with 13b rew rear plate??

Thanks for the pics.. Can't wait to see more!

Load on the dyno is different than the load the drivetrain sees on the road.

i meant i do not have photo...
i will try to make it later.

what do you guys think about gforce or richmond transmissions?
they have 1:1 5th gear, is that enough for 8 second passes?
my RPM limit is 9500.

also, where can i get upgraded rear end and lower final gear?

Hmm.. Not sure about the 1:1 at 5th gear.. In order to hit 8 sec, you would have to go 150+MPH.. I guess its possible with 9500 RPM limit.. I would also think it would be better 1:1 at 4th than 5th.. But I could be wrong. 1 less shift.

yea, with a 9500rpms redline you should be fine with a 5th gear 1:1, as a matter of fact you should be able to run a 4.33:1 rear gear and still be ok.

I have heard of people using the T56 with a bellhousing adapter. They are suppose to be able to hold quite a bit more torque..

I had 'heard' the 3rd gen tranny is only good to ~500ft/lbs of torque.

i heard that there are "9inch rear ends" available. does anyone know that does it mean and there i can get one?

as for bellhousing for T56 that is a good idea, but where i can find it? its a hard task to custom make one. Especially difficult will be fabrication of the custom shaft...

There use to be a company who made them.. Either way almost any machine shop should be able to make you an adapter and driveshaft..

I had a custom driveshaft made for mine for $500 USD.

"9 inch rear end" refers to the Ford 9 inch differential.

Buy a gforce. dont wasted your money on a richmond. the richmond is nice if your just driving but you need a real tranny buy a gforce you wont be disapointed. When you call gforce try to talk to mike. he is building a 20 b for his rx7 now. if he asks how you know that just tell him greg from steves service center told you about it. The gforce is just the best tranny youll run.
