Your close, but I wish it was that easy. If I ever had a chance to do it over, I would NEVER do it that way again. So much machining, welding, adapter plate, machining, money, throttle body mods, machining, port matching, well you get the idea.

I've always been curious about opening and closing them off based on rpm. That'll be cool and make perfect sense for street use.

My idea was both rpm and TPS-based. Like, when over 80% throttle and >5000 rpm, then they open. Though I guess I don't see why anyone would be over 5k and not at full throttle.

^ I agree 100%. Awsome project, and now you've given me something to aspire to do with the FC, only it's not gonna be designed for the street...

Somewhere along the lines of bridgeport with semi PPorts, 4-6 1600cc/min injectors (depending on how overzealous I get), GURU stat gears, HOport lightened and machined rotors...you get the idea, but the money is the only thing holding me back...and the gas prices. Yeah, gas prices, that's it...

Yes the gas prices do suck, I think the car is averaging about 13-16 miles per gallon. So its no horrible, condsidering the amount of full throttle runs it sees daily. The reliablilty is awesome so far, its just what I always wanted, never have to look at a boost gauge, worry about blown off intercooler pipes, leaking turbo's, turbo timers ect. Dont get me wrong, I love turbos, but something about a fast *** non-turbo that sounds like a F-1 car is so insane, I feel like I'm in a IMSA GT car going to work every day. In my humble opinion, simpler is better.

I forgot to say the exhaust flange was expertly made out of 304 by TT_rex_7, outstanding work! Look him up for any needing to be made. THANKS TT_rex !!!

Rethink the over-5000rpm thing. P-ports work better at *all* RPM.

I didnt know anyone remembered that car, I am not sure which is faster, The FD has acheived a faster quarter mile, and top speed, so I guess the FD.

no one cares about you're jank setup, ricer. my s4 n/a will roast you.

but seriously, reted said something about it being pointless getting a 20b unless its like 500+hp, but maybe he was referring to turbos only which is pretty much true. but i also thought he was working on an n/a 20b at one point? i have no idea. maybe he's like jimlab where if you say his name he'll just appear.

He seemed pretty interested in it, what with the dyno results from that N/A 20b that he worked on. I would think that a serious N/A 20b setup would pique his interest.

I dunno if this was a wise crack or if you're serious, but...
I had a nasty stomach flu last week, and I'm only getting over it now.
I had a last minute promotions board at work scheduled this morning, which I only had 4 days to prepare.

I like how your intake system works!
I keep slapping myself for not figuring it out sooner - I keep trying to figure out 1-into-3, 1-into-3... :P
If you can pull it off, I think you should go sheetmetal intake - mess around with the configuration, as I think you're on the right path!

The dyno graph shows the engine breathes a LOT better minus the stock intake manifold.
The torque keeps climbing!
I'd like to see the semi-PP's work, and see how the torque curves runs with all that airflow cramming through it.
Just by the numbers, you're a solid 70hp (more like 100! since we're on a DynoJet), so you're engine is breathing a lot more - obviously!

I think your headers are a bit too tight though.
I dunno how much clearance you got (if I remember correctly, FD has ~1" less clearance from vertical exhaust port to engine rail versus the FC), but getting the exhaust pipe to shoot straight out looks like it makes more power on the rotary engines.
See SDJ header versus RB - SDJ tries to fire the exhaust straight out as much as possible before making the first bend.
I dunno how much development you're going to be doing with the current set-up, but that's just a little constructive criticism.

Go ahead and wrap the headers - you'd be surprised how much heat is cut down.
I had a customers who wrapped their SS (304, I think) downpipe with fiberglass header wrap, and I could touch the damn thing after hard runs!
Simply amazing!
I think your welds are good enough to handle the extra heat from the wrap - that's some nice welding!
321 should not even blink with the increased heat.

I still you're crazy to go this route!
I can't even imagine the receipts that's piled up from all the purchases and work!
We're just about to dump a big chunk of money into the turbos in a few weeks, so we'll see if the numbers hold up reality to all the calculations...

Ahh, I see, no wise cracks intended. I am glad to see you are feeling better REted, and thanks for all the help! If the money flows well, I would like to re-make the intake manifold with sheet metal, so we will see. The exhaust, I am not in the mood to re-make, but was wondering about the curves.... maybe next year I will remake that too. So far I am happy with the setup, and it provides good power for drifting, wich is really my only concern for now.

OH yeah while at Kil-kare raceway, I weighed the car!!! And the results?? Well total weight came to 2624 lbs!! That is with a full roll cage and 1/2 tank of gas. Weight distrib. was more surprising, With me in the car it was 1399lbs front, and 1390lbs rear. Can you say 50/50 ?!?!? Didnt have a chance to see what the dist. was without me in it.

I am very happy with the car- personal goals that were accomplished so far--

1) 300+ RWHP
2) run on 89 octane
3) acheive a top speed over 175mph
4) weigh less than a factory Rx-7
5) maintain factory suspension geometry
6) run mid 12's or better in the quater mile.
7) Have a motor that will out-last a turbo 13B 3 times or more.
8) As near to 51/49 wieght biase

Wow, I must admit, that is one hell of a list of goals, and the only one you haven't officially acheived is #7 (at least as of yet...). I just wish there was a way to actually get the weight bias to be about 45/55 (f/r), just to keep the rear end under itself and give it a little more weight when giving it gas (at least with a 20b with that little thing: TORQUE). Also, are you running the stock Torsen LSD, and if so, how well is it handling lockup with the torque it's seeing?

Yeah, the weight doesn't surprise me...
We got our first FC track car down to 2510 lbs., but that was with a 13BT.

Weight for us shouldn't be an issue.
We're shooting for 600hp and 500lb-ft. of torque...on the low boost setting.

I dunno about having rear bias on a drift car.
The S13 / S14 / S15 Nissan chassis' are all heavily front biased, and they make very stable drift platforms.
I'd rather have the FC in the range of 55 / 45 or even as much as 60 / 40.

It's going to take a LOT of time and effort to fine-tune the chassis for the track, but in the end I think it'll be worth it!
