GtoRx7 :
Ive had a question Ive been wanting to ask for a while but keep forgetting. You said that you are running in on the sideports, but your housings do have P-ports , but are capped off? How exactly are the ports capped, and do you think the engine would have made more power without the housings being P-ported?

Yes, they were capped off, very simply. Since the p-ports are made EXACTLY in circle of the rotor housing, (the round shape, just above the top stud) that once my intake mani was bolted on, the flange itself capped them all off, with no leaks, the factory gasket goes right over them.

More power without them, since they were not being used last year? Definitely!! Having large holes in the rotor housing, and air surging in and out of a closed off hole/port is BAD for power, but a needed evil once they open up. Too bad they never did last year...

Thats what I was thinking, but was unsure of how they were plugged. I think its safe to assume there was considerable power loss because of the extra area of the port opening. Maybe 400WHP isnt so bad of a goal for sideport N/A?

as much as I like the sound of that...and think capped P-port would hurt power tremendously, I don't believe it can be done ALL MOTOR. But HOLT **** what a ride it would be.

Its something to shoot for.. He had made ~350RWHP with his setup, which he says was a mild streetport, and not to mention these capped off p-ports. With a more agreessive streetport, and some more tuning, its possibe. You may not quite see 400, but even 380 or so would be fantastic.

Im still racking my brain trying to decide to go this route or LS1.. this definately requires more work and custom fabbing, but it would be a whole new level of awesome.

Yeah 400rwhp is very optimistic on sideports, but who knows, with more time, and more people, ALOT of things can change.

Hey guys quick question I saw a JDM 20b motor for sale for around $4,000.00 with the stock turbos. Is this a good price and how much horsepower can I get with the stock motor with the same turbos or even a better turbo. And whats the biggest turbo I can run on this stock motor safely.
