It is not so much a issue of being "hard" as it is costly and time consuming, once you have the subframe for the 20b the motor drops in, then you need a ems and most of the other things are custom
... in other words, it's hard.
The 2Gen is a bit easier because it doesn't need the subframe, but it is still a lot of work. This site covers the 2Gen conversion issues:
